"College Algebra" is a fucking disgrace. It should be called "Remedial Algebra" at best because it's essentially high school or middle school level algebra for people who are somehow in college without knowing this shit already. In reality, if you don't already know this shit you should have never been admitted to college in the first place. That fact that for some non-STEM majors this is their only "college" math class essentially means that they get a college degree without even being exposed to ANY college level math is a fucking disgrace.

How far did you get in HS math though? You may have lost the ability to pull it up at a whim but it's still in there somewhere.

What CS program is this? At my school, you need to take the engineering sections of calc 1-3, intro to proofs, linear algebra, intro CS/AP credit, and data structures just for admission into the major and to take more classes. If you started with college algebra here you’d be like 2-3 years in before you could actually declare CS as a major, much less take the classes..

Freshman year
>Algebra in Fall, Trig in Spring, Pre-Calc in summer
>Two programming classes (Fall/Spring)
>5 gen ed courses
Sophomore
>Calc 1 (Fall), Calc 2 (Spring)
>Two programming classes (Fall/Spring)

Fellow florida man here. I made it to the most advance track in math in middle school and did HL in high school so it went something like this:

middle
Algebra 1 (7th grade)
Geometry (8th grade)

high
Algebra 2 (9th)
Analytic Geometry & Trigonometry (10th)
Calculus 1 (11th)
Calculus 2 (12th)

That said, this was close to a decade ago at this point.

I went straight on to vector calc and diff eq. freshman year.
It was actually quite frustrating because all the introductory physics classes attempted to do 3dimensional problems without the signifigantly more elegant vector notation, because most of the other students weren't expected to take vector calc until their sophmore year.

Math at these levels usually requires help. Tons of group projects and socializing in college. I only have a high school degree and I’m 24, I’m shit at math.

Only took algebra 2 senior year of high school and I forgot most of the shit again already and I have troubles re-learning shit like radicals, variable problems and some other shit.

I’ll probably be working retail my whole life. Already wasted 5-6 years with a benzodiazepine addiction and smoking weed everyday.

I legit wanna eat a gun. Nothing is worse than benzo withdraw then all of the other shit stacked on.

Who knows where I’ll go in life, but I’m no where near most people my age now besides druggies.

seriously, go talk to your instructors and/or counselors in the departments. They WANT students who are having trouble to come to them for help; that's their job. Ask them what your options are now, and options for future classes. Maybe you will be on probation for a while, or maybe you will have to take some time off, or maybe they will let you have an incomplete or something. There might be a lot of options.
