Because they cause your brain to release dopamine and other chemicals that make you feel all warm and tingly.
Also it's wild how dopamine can't cross the blood-brain barrier, so the only way we can get more of it is using other chemicals that cause the brain to release more dopamine (or jacking off). Like what would it feel like to just stick a syringe in your brain and inject a ton of raw dopamine?

Ok, how about Down Syndrome and other truly random genetic mutations? How are those traits derived from evolution?
Or how about dwarfism, which is actually a recessive gene that can be carried by people who are not themselves dwarfs. What's the evolutionary advantage of having that trait lurking in our gene pool? If every trait is ultimately derivable from evolution then there must be a reason.

because there must be, all traits are carried via DNA (other then epigenetical changes but thats a different story). Evolution uses basic building blocks to carry information(genes), organisms change through that information manipulation. Downs etc id just what happens when the code malfunctions. Furthermore, you can only have downs if you have a certain type of code in the first place.
