scientifically speaking, why is 'climate activism' pretty much strictly domain of young liberals?
I get that in the short turn, we would have to slow down the progress which is quite anti-right wing, but why don't we see more right wing oriented people considering climate change a threat in the long run?

Daily reminder that one of the leading causes of climate change is westward immigration.

>we would have to slow down the progress which is quite anti-right wing,
You fell for capitalist propaganda, like most right wingers, sanctifying economic growth and accumulation of wealth among the wealthy. Most right wing people think that's worth sacrifying the climate for the same reason you think it's progress.

Because you are using the term "liberal" incorrectly. Liberalism is belief that individuals know what's best for them and do better without interference of authority. It manifests itself in support for the so called free market, reduction of state power, free speech, legal state and reliance on reason as the only way to enforce one's opinion on another. Notable liberal thinkers include J. Locke, J.S. Mill or Max Weber. Now that we got terminology out of the way, let's move to substance.

In order to effectively tackle pollution one needs to limit the freedom of private companies, limit consumption and generally transvaluate society away from consumerism (work hard, party hard). This can't be done through the framework of capitalism, worse it poses direct attack on the interest of the capitalist class. There are multiple ideological positions arising from the issue:

>Socialists
Believe that solution is hidden in tackling capitalism.

>Deep ecology
Believe that industrial society was a mistake and we ough to return to more simple lives. Can go from genocidal Finns to naive hippies.

>(Pure) Liberals
Believe that individuals are capable of reducing enviromental impact of their lifestyles by buying the correct kinds of products and individual enterpreanorship will be able to come up with solutions that both don't pollute and sustain our luxurious way of life.

>Leftwing liberals
Less dogmatic liberals. Believe that the state ought to push the free market in the right direction a bit.

>Rightwing liberals
Deny CC as something fabricated by leftist-dominated "cathedral" to enforce anti-capitalist policy.

Now, obviosly the liberal solution of "Let's do nothing and hope for the best" is incredibly naive to vast majority of people so it makes them gravite towards towards the socialist camp and propose anticapitalist policies. As a reaction to that, people who love capitalism react by denying that there ever was a problem in the first place. Hence polarization.

In the end, all we'll have is what we have done. I think young leftists tend to have strong ethical guidelines, not saying they're the right ethical guidelines, I'm on the right myself (I believe in climate change). But I think these young people are asking themselves "how will I explain myself to the next generation" and I think that is what drives them.

Food production plants that rely on cloning red meat muscle instead of whole cows.
Etc Etc.
Yet, even so, all this does is delay the inevitable heat death of the cosmos. By a wide margin of course, but inevitable, because though liberals don't really want to admit it, even nature itself has an end.

I didn't come to that conclusion.
I just noticed that you made a series of assumptions originating in capitalist propaganda, namely that economic growth is progress, the right wing is pro-progress, and the ecologists are anti-progress.
