I dunno how it is in europe but this sort of behavior, colleges passing underqualified grads, was and is a typical thing in the US which is why American engineers need a degree plus four years of an apprenticeship under a licensed engineer just to apply for the engineering exam. Medical doctors undergo a similar process since medical schools are especially notorious for approving nurses into full doctors to boost their numbers.

Women are going to fail to enter industry at the same rate, which will result in one of two things: 1) getting rid of the assistance (unlikely) 2) lowering the industry standards, resulting in risks and damages (likely). If 2 happens, it will persist until companies lose too much, at which point the industry will fight back. From there, it will be government intervention, forcing a standards reduction.

The ironic part is that women currently don't have an issue performing in industry - they do just as well as their male counterparts. But that's only because women currently face the same barriers to entry. If you remove them, women will suffer for it, and the blame will somehow fall onto society. People are too fucking stupid to realize that handouts never make anyone better at anything. This isn't about your fundamental human value - this is about whether or not you're actually capable of performing the work.

- Assigning priorities and allocating resources to projects based on long time strategies. Some clients can wait longer than others.
- Getting to know the hierarchy of the corporations your firm is working for: there might be power struggles or different departments competing for funding. If that's the case, simple things like who you consult first or whose suggestions you incorporate into the design might have ramifications down the lane.
- Sharing technical information/solutions/doing favors to colleagues in competing firms.

Of course, there are internal politics as well. If you are an engineer assigned to two projects with different leaders, planning your working hours to keep them both happy, or favoring one while bullshitting the other is basic office politics. You might come to learn that one of them is planning to retire soon, or that he's eyeing a new job, and play your cards accordingly.

I have no experience with gender politics or whatever other insanity you seemed to have gathered from my earlier post, and I'm sorry if that's what you have to deal with. Not being from an anglo country probably helps. The few women I work with are there based on merit and they get no free lunches.
