Hello /sci/. Can someone please explain the actual facts around global warming to me? Not asking from a political stance or anything, but I feel like both sides play shit up so much that I'm not sure what to believe. Is there truly an extinction level cataclysmic event coming in my children's lifetime? Or is it overblown, and will only result in the poor getting fucked. I really don't know what to think. It bothers me on all levels, and it truly causes me to overthink everything. Just now I was looking at climate data for my town because I swear it feels like Fall starts later and later each year. Just small things like that keep me thinking. Someone please tell it to me straight.

Bump.

Anything about global warming is automatically political. And it's a shame too because we're all gonna die because of it.

We're already fucked and it's about minimizing this being fucked which due to political opposite is grim. No individual can change anything with lifestyle changes, it's up to governments to make drastic legislature and threaten force on those who won't

So is that really it? Our grandparents fucked up so we witness the collapse of everything?

I don't know what to tell you. If you believe the scientists and not the politicians (which given that you're asking this on the science board, you should) we're already toast.
