why did dinosaurs never became smart?
in 200 thousand years humans became the smartest beings on the planet.
dinosaurs lived for millions of years, wouldn't that mean they should have evolved into smart beings as well? why didn't they? what makes us special?

Dinosaurs did not cook food and therefore did not get enough nutrients to develop big boy brains.
Through natural selection and learning how to cook, humans did.

How did humans learn to cook food though? Why couldn't dinosaurs learn?

Because being smart is the most long term evolutionary strategy. It only gets good after a massive amount of time, and during this intermediate period the brain basically just sucks up energy. The fact that we aren't made extinct is a miracle.

We're not actually sure being smart is a good evolutionary strategy, dinosaurs lasted millions of years and humans might not even make it to 200 thousand.

Because dinosaurs were big fuckers without proper grappling skill (keep in mind they, in fact, did not have hands made for grappling) and the fact that they did not store their meats.
Keep in mind that cooking meat is what got humans to where we are now, so therefore this would only apply to the carnivores.
Humans probably learnt how to cook because of a random lightning strike or heat fire caused on a village's food source, only to have the food eaten by the villagers afterward because they didn't want to waste or some shit. Regardless, because they would find the cooked food more pleasing, this turned into a sort of tradition, I suppose.
Would dinosaurs do that? No, dinosaurs wouldn't have the base level intelligence needed to recognize the fact that the food indeed got cooked in the first place.

>why did dinosaurs never became smart?
There was no selective pressure to develop intelligence. This is also erroneous since the direct descendants of dinosaurs (birds) have species making it the third most intelligent class of animals on Earth. Ravens have as many neurons in their forebrain as horses, and can both use and create tools.
>in 200 thousand years humans became the smartest beings on the planet.
To be honest, you should count fron when Homo diverged from Pan, so it'd be 2 million years.
>dinosaurs lived for millions of years, wouldn't that mean they should have evolved into smart beings as well?
No. By that logic, all plants should have one billion IQ and all bacteria are part of a single ascendant hivemind that plays chess with God daily.
>why didn't they?
Why would they? There is no evolutionary pressure for it. Dinosaurs only required nutrition, and their food grew literally everywhere. They had barely any predators, their feathers were already resistant to the weather (the feather is the most evolved form of hair, as it is the best at temperature regulation and keeping away parasites from the skin), they had no opposable thumbs or any need for tools.
>what makes us special?
Nothing. Absolutely nothing. The fact you still possess an anthropocentric view of the world where you believe you're special just shows you have little life experience and that if you met a slightly more sophisticated intelligent being, you'd break down crying.

Because dinosaurs cant work together in big groups to accomplish big things like we humans do. Apes cant do that either despite being smart aswell. Or do you think 4 guys traveled to moon on there own? No there were 1000 of people that had to work together and use information gathered by millions of other peopleto accomplish that.

you are under the misconception that the only decisive factor on sentient intelligence is time while in reality there are a plethora of criteria that must be met to develop what we would consider today as intelligent life and yes time is a deceive factor but is not the only one
if the key to intelligence was just extremely prolonged amounts of time then a lot of plants or bacteria would be intelligent and sentient

They haven't suffered even one second in the past 65 million years. That makes them smarter than all other organisms who've been living on Earth since then.
