There are two things, self and other. With any event, positive negative or otherwise, fault is always in both. Yourself for either allowing or failing to foresee the event, and the other for causing it to happen.

Ultimately most people are biased in their perception one way or the other, and it's not very dynamic. I tend to blame myself for anything that happens. That's the only thing I have (hopefully) guaranteed and constant control over.
