>A person who thinks all the time has nothing to think about except thoughts, so he loses touch with reality and lives in a world of illusions. By thought I mean the chattering inside the skull; perpetual and compulsive repetition of words, of calculations, and symbols going on inside the head. For as a result of confusing the real world of nature with mere signs, such as money, stocks and bonds, title deeds, and so forth.
Does /sci/ destroy people's lives?

All thinking is thoughts. You can't not think thoughts. The fuck is this retarded mess. Does whoever you are quoting not step back to reflect on how this very thought of theirs is falling victim to their fear of confusing the real world with abstract nonsense?

He’s right and exactly spot on. That couldn’t have been communicated any better. Most people won’t understand most of what he’s saying here and will horribly misinterpret it.
Your question is just stupid though. What he’s highlighted is a result of modern life and of how primary education is conducted. It seems you’ve misunderstood the excerpt yourself.

Most of our thinking forces it upon ourselves. And then we identify ourselves with those thoughts, and call it "I", we understand the world through our thoughts and call it "the world".

What I get from it is that most people aren't in control of their thoughts and aren't even aware of it.

MEDITATE

Alan Watts is based and 500 years ahead of every known living or dead philosopher. You wish you could understand him but his epistemology is so advanced it will take us hundreds of years to develop the prefrontal cortex to the level where we can understand such powerful wisdom

Is he saying that thinking with out application results in people being lost in thought, blind to the physical scape of reality, inching closer and closer to the personal reality built on a theoretics, assumption, and delusion?

I feel like this is the case with me. Instead of paying attention to my surroundings I often find myself trying to find retarded patterns in everything, thinking about the pettiest shit like making lists in my mind about the things I have to do tomorrow while people talk to me, just nodding to them as if I'm paying attention to what they say. Losing the thread on movies and conversations. Making little shitty theories and mental schemes to explain everything instead of just being a passive observer and appreciating the beauty of what's before me, enjoying myself. In short, missing out on life. I think it could be adhd.

>Does /sci/ destroy people's lives?
No. It is real scientists that has brought you advances, technology, medicine and more that means you can expect to survive numerous diseases and live till old age.

Apparently, if you have any technical insight you are disqualified to be intellectual. And we get garbage such as the green text in OP. I just wish these pseuds took their own views seriously and returned to the stone age where they would expire before the age of 30.

>> No.10812023

Clearly you've missed the point. Its not that thinking about scientific problems is bad. Its when those thoughts take over you and you lose sense of self and reality that it becomes bad.

I was educated in environment where my mom got $10,000 a year and technology costed same.

There are different things more important than global money.

Ways of getting money. If you think making somebody biolionare for $300k yearly is making you good or somehow better than others...

It's money hungry people who kind of ruin this.

It's not that money is everything, but then people who are born with them are never afraid they'll die out of hunger, because that is pain.

Money is nice, but better to have some life, maybe even imaginary life than none, but money.

Technical precision can kill if you don't have safety operations, and people tend to kill outliers, not every outlier is degenerate or somebody who cannot bring a lot to your life, make it more fast, make it how you like it.

Making it something different, like not getting fuel with yourself in your space, but fuck you, if you think you're better because you have more money.

Moral Values shouldn't be define in or out or with money.

It's lot of unnecessary evil. Everybody thing evil is something different, but... Let's say it out loud. You don't have to drive newest shit, you have to be able to get out when it's no longer habitable.

If you have some analysis, you can conclude that there are things that have their own value and it is not so simple to determine which is good.

Point of money is to speed up the unecessary killing machine, because for every piecie of your money, 10 money goes to killingmachine, that will kill also you, because you're not that important, you just have money.

Then you may be a problem, because you can think.
