1078947 No.1078947 [Reply] [Original]

Hundreds of years ago we thought the world was flat, and that the Earth was the center of the solar system.

Thousands of years ago we didn't even know what the Sun was.

Does that not mean we could be wrong about a lot of things, such as paranormal phenomena?

>> No.1078959

yes, also higgs mechanism is the new aether

>> No.1078967

Backwards logic. Hundreds of years ago we believed in paranormal phenomena. Now we don't. For this argument to work you need to post something we knew correctly then started believing incorrectly.

>Hundreds of years ago we thought the world was flat
No we didn't, it was widely known that the earth was spherical.
>and that the Earth was the center of the solar system.
Ancient civilizations in India and the Middle East also had heliocentric models, which for some reason didn't get used much.

>Thousands of years ago we didn't even know what the Sun was.
Not even remotely in contact with the other problems.

>Does that not mean we could be wrong about a lot of things, such as paranormal phenomena?
Completely wrong? No. We might be able to make some minor 'changes' in formulae, like adding new factors.
Paranormal phenomena aren't even worthy of research conducted in the name of science.

yes experiments on moon show that heavy object fall faster then light
this contradicts newton

so we have 2 option
1) we didn't go to moon
2) newton law is wrong

you decide

all separate and different? i love how people dont notice the similarities of lifeforms.

The other day I was pointing out to my friend how incredibly similar dogs and humans are, and he asked "how so?"

I said, well, he has 4 protruding limbs, 2 eyes, 2 ears, a mouth, a tongue, a penis, a nose, skin, blood, veins, a heart, a stomach, a liver, a brain, all of which function very similar to our own organs (although true there are slight differences, our brain is more powerful, their nose is more powerful, dogs can only see in black and white, dogs can't eat chocolate.)

Dogs are dichromates ("black and white" would be a monochromate).

(just FYI, humans and certain old world primates are some of the few trichromate mammals... and the mantis shrimp kicks all of our asses at as far as cones go).
