>entry level R&D in literally who company that sells soap
>rejected
>motive: you didn't show leadership skills

Common, why do I need leadership skills? to lead glassware and spreedsheats? Why the meme this leadership and proactive bullshit all the time?

Also do I need to pull some PUA moves during these fucking interviews? like staring everyone all the time in the eyes, amogging the employees and talking loud so they notice how much a leader I am?

Thats a code word for either not liking you or the job opening was made specifically for someone picked in advance.
Dont worry you will eventually realize that having your own business beats being treated like a retard.

>> No.10744482

Sure, I know 2 guys that went for tech startups. Don't even need to finish college and all, just have money before you start then you pay consulting to fill the knowledge gaps you have.

Now don't ask me how you start you own business without money from a previously business or from family.

>the job opening was made specifically for someone picked in advance.
I've seen this kind of thing, but it's been blatant.
Consider the following ad for a position at LBNL:
Candidate must have a PhD, and 5 years post graduate experience. Three references required; references from UC-Berkeley faculty will not be accepted.

The national lab is disawoving references from the institution it is affiliated with!
They obviously had someone in house, trained elsewhere, they were looking to promote.

What's the point of this instead of promoting´ without this nonsense?

WHAT THE FUCK
is wrong with interviewers?
>shadowing program
>literally just unpaid breathing on superior's neck to gain experience
>What unique skills do you possess and how could you apply them in this position to uniquely benefit the company?

Not him but state owned/national institutions do this.
They are required by law to put out a job listing.
The act of rigging the requirements is illegal and criminal but hey nobody got nabbed for it.

Yeah if I was a persons people then I would be applying for sales, managment, marketing or all the other 30+ different positions where you actually need and will have to interact and talk to people all time.

From my previously experience r&d is playing with glassware for 5 hours then the next 3 input data to excel. You spend weeks without needing to talk or socialize unless you want. But for some reason they require that everyone is outgoing and this "natural leader" bullshit.

Also sometimes when small companies ask for leadership skills is like telling that you will have to do your job + a ton of managment since they have less employees than they should and everyone overworks (for free).

Wait, do you NOT normally do this when speaking with people?

No. You either learn STEM and become a researcher or an engineer, or you learn social skills and learn to see the society as a battlefield. There is no place in the human brain for botrh science and outwitting other people.

>company worried to show off how they are charitable
>send us a 2 page pdf developing a project for a poor country that deals with famine, water shortage...
>creates an educational program, with gamification (huge meme in education today) about food safety and food quality to teach the kids because I thought as an engineer, trying to create something somehow viable
>creativity rate 4/10

I bet they choose someone who went full scifiction, with a moonbase for the kids and an army of AI bots mining asteroids so the kids never starve again and get rich.
At least tell me I need to approach this bullshit like an improv or a sci fiction writer.

You don't. HR needs criteria like "leadership skills" to screen out applicants. They could replace that criterion with coin flips but "didn't show leadership skills" sounds better than "loss the coin flip."

Here is a small hint: if you get rejected from an interview, in 100% of the cases they already knew they were going to reject you before they invited you.
If a company needs you, they won't play games. They will literally skip the interview.

If they interview you, it means you are being used by them.

Don't go to interviews.

>> No.10747860

Agree with you and anon was either trolling or being a 12 yo. You only need to do this self help bullshit if you are a PUA student or insecure. Like hurr see people IM CONFIDENTY!!! I LOOK YOU IN THE EYES!!!
This bullshit adds nothing to the conversation, won't improve the quality of information transfer and won't make you "connect" with the other person. Pure shit.
Only situation where you actually do this shit is when you trying to get a girl.

>>10745764
Once I was competing for 43 positions but the girl said they had 6k canditates. Supposing she wasn't lying then I assumed it is a lottery even though all my friends refuse to believe in this. If you get reject then it was your fault, just be positive and do better next time :)

>>10746112
I plan creating promotional material like volunteering and marketing my work in social media. Problem is that I have years of volunteer work that didn't work that well. You can tell you did 10 years of volunteer work and they won't give a shit. I don't know if this approach works better in USA/Europe. Another idea is slaving for a teacher and getting my name in papers, problem is that my family is poor and I would rather find some random job to help them than spend a year in something so uncertain--that is assuming people will give a shit because I have my name on random papers.
