I'm trying to understand the female reproductive cycle. Can you guys suggest some good resources? I'm having a lot of trouble understanding the menstrual cycle graph and its correlation with estrogen, progesterone, FSH, LH, etc.

I just have a bunch of questions...
Why is the endomentrium shed and remade every month?
Why are women not prescribed progesterone antagonists instead of progestrone + estrogen?
Why does Human chorionic gonadotropin interact with the corpus luteum and not the follicles themselves?

Because it would fuck with the feedback control, progesterone has a lot of other functions and is a precursor for many other steroids.

does that really happen?
wtf women can get huge tits but I cannot get a bigger pp. god is not real, no way could someone be that cruel.
:(
anyways you should know that brith control also messes with their hormones.

Most marriages don't end in divorce. Especially if you're smart about it.

first of all, nice job for studying such a subject.. Most men (and women) are completely uneducatd on this stuff. Regarding your questions:

> Why is the endomentrium shed and remade every month?
Because it prepares for a potential pregnancy (aka extra tissue/blood to help the zygote survive and thrive)
>Why are women not prescribed progesterone antagonists instead of progestrone + estrogen?

>Why is the endometrium shed and remade every month
In terms of reproduction it's preparing for pregnancy. If the egg is not fertilised the endometrium is shed to "rebuild" it so to speak.
In terms of hormones it's because progesterone slowly decreases and eventually is too low for the endometrium to be maintained.
>Why are women not prescribed progesterone antagonists instead of progesterone + estrogen
Ovulation (the thing birth control is trying to avoid) is triggered by a spike in LH. The spike in LH is triggered by an increase in estrogen. By increasing estrogen and progesterone right from the beginning on the menstrual period the follicle never releases the oocyte, making pregnancy impossible.
>Why does Human chorionic gonadotropin interact with the corpus luteum and not the follicles themselves
In terms of the pharma behind it I don't know, but only the corpus luteum produces hormones at that point of the menstrual cycle, so there is no use in stimulating the other follicles.

I realise I didn't fully answer the question
>Why are women not prescribed progesterone antagonists
Honestly don't really know but this would stop menstruation all together which would probably have bad side effects.

Easy
>Follicle stimulating hormone makes your eggs grow
>LH makes your estrogen go up
>LH spike makes your eggs release
>Estrogen rises over time making your milkers bigger
>The corpus Leteum releases progesterone, literally Pro-gestation. Maintains your uterine walls and inhibits new eggs release. (Typical contraceptive)
>Prolactin literally Pro-lactation. Makes your milkers make milk
