It's not a path worth going down. As soon as you say some forced eugenics are okay, you're going to end up saying more kinds are okay under the same irresistable logic. Which wouldn't be a problem in and of itself, except that the kind of traits that humans will select for are not necessarily the kind of traits that are actually successful or that the future needs. If the fidelity between what people think is a good trait and what actually is a successful trait is less than 100%, it's just asking to put ourselves unwittingly on the brink of extinction. And that's not even mentioning the incredible temptation there will be to ban the breeding of your political opponents, etc.
