I've been taking notes for a long time now and I'm starting to just get tired of it. It takes so much time away from reading plus it breaks the pacing.
Maybe it's my shitty habits though.
I'll read something and then immediately jot it down, and then have to find my place again and read through, then stop and write, keep going. It just seems like it's fragmenting my overall cohesion of the text.
That, and it doesn't even seem to be helping at all. The only notes that I've found useful are the ones for math I've taken.
I've been getting into Physics/Chem now and even after taking notes, I still am having trouble recalling just what the fuck I read a few days ago.

Anyone have issues taking notes and paying attention at the same time? If I take notes, I'll have a full page of stuff I don't actually understand because I just mechanically copied whatever was on the blackboard, and if I don't, it means I can focus and actually understand the lecture, but then I'll be more prone to forgetting.

I keep my notebook open when the instructor lectures and calmly write down parts I think are important. When I read the text, I go through the whole chapter before writing anything down. It works for me.
