Strongly leaning towards physics degree, but engineering seems appealing as well. If i want to be a physicist I'll have to get a Ph.D, and I don't know if I want to deal with any of that. As cool as that would be, the idea of spending five years writing a thesis no one will read makes me weary. I can handle a masters degree though. I think an industry job will pay better than an academic one.

>I'll probably stay at my current job for 1 or 2 more years. Immediately after I graduate and while I do that I want to get a masters degree in actuarial and financial sciences just to do something that is not heavy enough to distract me from my job. After that, my goal is simply to attach myself to a huge corporation and rise through the ranks until I get to the point that they finance my Ph.D. in mathematical analysis. Well, my title is "analyst" but I work at a tech startup which means I have to do everything. I'm not even a programmer for the company but even I've made several changes to the codebase, among other things. It got funded by some pretty big VC funds so I have a secure job for the coming years. I'll try to make the most of this because I am sure that if I quit and then got the same job at a more established company I'd very likely only earn 75% of what I do now, which fucking sucks.

Yeah, I should, but it's not that simple. I'd have to renegotiate my contract and I doubt that the founder would just give some of his stock, especially when the money is already flowing in. I do have some leverage, if I were to quit some things would collapse, but still I doubt the CEO believes I deserve stock. If I ask I bet he'd just give me a raise.

But well, I'm not sad either way nor do I feel that I even deserve stock. The way I see it is that if it goes well then I'll be one of the early employees which means I could get an executive position with an inflated salary and just live the high life that way. If the company doesn't do well then I just put it in my resume, name-drop a bunch of big VC funds everyone knows, and then start shopping for something else. I'm in a pretty lucky position, specially as a retard without even a college degree yet, so I'm counting my blessings more than suffering about not having stock.

Here's the socking truth. Educating everyone does not help the economy. It actually makes it worse. In 19xx you were fine if you got an high school education. But around 1980, many people starting pushing for higher education...not just here, but all over the globe. Soon it was quite common to see people with high school and college degrees. You can't realistically higher them all. Even if they are qualified. You're just going to have to raise the bar on what is qualified. So the stocking truth is that the more educated a society is..the more likely people are going to find themselves in under paid jobs. I bet they didn't see that coming.

Well, in plus is that I put depression and burn-out behind in main part. In minus is that I earn shit, live in small town in east europe and do job for absolute brainlets/young 19 year olds straight from welding machines.

Goal is to do something more towards education, go R&D, but there's nothing really around that does it seriously since all r&d is held in central abroad and my country doesn't really have native investors.

So yeah, I'll have to make a switch towards programming (which I wanted to avoid) since there's no future or money in engineering.

>EFC being 7k
>What do I do?
If you have a high HS GPA, then that college clearly does not give merit scholarships and it probably only gives need-based, thus 0 scholarships and aid due to your EFC.
You can always wait to apply to Spring semester (i.e. apply around September or so) in order to, perhaps, be able to get merit scholarships on the universities that your dumbass school failed to give the transcripts to given how the SAT will be valid for a certain amount of years (I think).
However, you can see that you will NOT get need-based scholarships, so you should be able to research and calculate if the merit scholarships that the colleges you wanted to go will give you enough for you to pay for the university for the least amount of debt.

I will not recommend you community college immediately since I don't know how much will you exactly pay for school, and if you will be able to get a part-time job when you are enroll in the school you want so that you're debt free.
As well I do not think you would want to do the trades, as well you wouldn't want to enroll in a CC that does not have a guarantee transfer to certain universities.

In theory, yes that would be true.
However, in practice, only normaliens from ENS get to do the pure stuff, because they don't have to get a funding.
If you happen to need funding from the local school or from the region, it's heavily skewed towards stuff that has "applications" or is somehow trendy ( this year I believe there was a focus on interface with computer science, last year it was biology if I am not mistaken ).
There are a few exceptions to this of course, but overall, it's a risky move from anon, that's all.

Probably wait and apply again but make sure everything goes through this time. In the meantime enjoy some time off/working an easy job and think hard about what you want to do

By the way, for the bros who haven't graduated yet try hard for an internship, it can cut months off your search for a job after graduating, not getting one was my second biggest mistake in college. Biggest was not trying to do research with a really cool dynamical systems guy, who was really good about undergrad research opportunities.
