There are a lot of factors leading to low IQ on some states such as a high immigrant population who came from poor countries often having low IQ because of poor environmental conditions. Black people on average also have a lower IQ and the more blacks in one state the lower the average IQ is.
Studies into the matter do in fact link low IQ with conservative ideology.

So if you compare the average liberal and conservative the liberal would be more likely to have a higher IQ. Any study into this always comes to the same conclusion. Low IQ people tend to be conservative.

Correlation does not mean that there aren't exceptions. Conservatives don't pander to blacks so obviously blacks won't be attracted to them, even though blacks tend to me socially conservative. But blacks are only like 15% of the population or something like that.
