the game that shan't be named is not /sci/ approved. Don't support mexican scam artists. Support full n-body simulation, radiators, component building autism, and space dildos. Play Children of a Dead Earth instead. Orbiter is fun too. Of course you should realize that playing videogames is a waste of time. Although I must say, ChoDE is interesting for exploring some aspects of space warfare.

It's one of the biggest problems in computer science right now. First computers beat chess, then go, starcraft is next. It's a continuous Partially Observable Markov Decision Process. Computers are not good at solving POMDPs. Progress in Starcraft AI is worth following as autonomous building clearing and swat operations can and have been formulated as a POMDP. Terrence Tao has been confirmed to play Starcraft. He regrets it.

What you mean the actual real life solar system should have been the ingame universe? What's the point of that? If they had done that, each mission would take about 10 times as long, meaning you would mostly just sit around and wait, why would you want that?
>realistic graphics
That's completely irrelevant to the gameplay

Writing an AI that is good at starcraft is actually easier than one that is good at Chess because being good at Starcraft doesn't actually require intelligence, it's mechanical Tasks almost exclusively. There are Micro-bots that can beat any human out there since decades.

starcraft does provide a novel opportunity for AI or machine learning but people prescribe a lot more depth to the game than it actually has. or, at least, more strategic depth.

starcraft heavily favors quick execution and micromanagement, and does not favor long term planning beyond basic branching. it's about using the same strategy over and over again and becoming very good at executing it, and understanding what you need to do to slightly change it to counter opponent strategies

it's by far my least favorite RTS because it's not about strategy, it's about tactics, and its mostly metagaming rather than determining what you need to do on a per-game basis.

An actual carier mode where you explore random solar system and gather useful science data about new bodies. Like height of the atmosphere, temp, pressure. And then you build landers that can survive this particular environment. And after bringing back samples you discover how usefull it is. So you start mining and with that you are able to build special parts.
(right now science has no meaning, it's just points)

AI competition - a couple of agencies competing who gets there first.
Random events - for example megastorms on planets, reusability rage, probability of life on Planet X - go check.
All that in the form of newspaper news.

Random endgame goal - creating an interstellar spacecraft, colonizing another planet, building a city in space...

In stock procedural tanks, life support, starting unmanned, alarm, transfer planner, coloring your parts.

KSP is great but it lacks a truly thought out career mode (and tech tree to match) to drive meaningful moments and rewarding gameplay. Rather than taking a satisfying path through the tech tree to achieve some well thought out milestones you spend ages walking around KSC trying to grind maximum research so you can jump far enough in the tech tree to skip to the infinitely more rewarding biomes out in space, feels nothing like any form of challenging career
