I hate technobabble because it makes science and technology look like magic that only super special people can do. Even before learning some of the scientific terms and what they mean, it always strains my suspension of disbelief because the show will just vomit another blend of jargon to solve an issue with no repercussions. What's worse is that every so often a spout of technobabble actually does allign with what the terms actually mean and fans will show off that lucky event as proof that the show is scientifically accurate while ignoring a previous episode that claimed that traveling at infinite velocity turns people into giant salamanders.

I'm not arguing that every science fiction story be turned into hard scifi, but I think that the writers of such stories should respect the terms they're using. If they can't do that, then they shouldn't use such terms at all.

No no NO! You don't just get the values like that. You'll need to use Newton's Method to find the eigen values, but even then you're only going to get an approximate anwser due to the wave-like nature of hyperreals. And once you get what you feel are close to the eigenvalues, you then will have to take the integral to check for supersymmetry. There's no way Tony did all of that in 30 seconds.
