I'm afraid you are correct for the most part. The vast majority of peer-reviewed published data is largely unreproducible garbage at the expense of the tax payer. Even when it is reproducible its still a waste imho. Take me for example, I study how fruit flies fend off genetic parasites. I mean who gives a fuck.

No, Biology is the law of science fields

>Stuck up pre-professionals that think they will be richer than their peers

>Makes unremarkable wages unless they specialize as lawyers or doctors

>Made fun of for being 'pure memorization' despite having more nuance and creativity when you reach the higher levels of study

>Regardless, one of the few fields to have many applications and a large industry attached to it

>Full of both mid-wits and rare geniuses

Liberal arts Equivalents:
Biology -> Law/Pre-Law
Psychology -> Gender studies
Math -> Philosophy
Physics -> Literature
Chemistry -> Economics/Political Science/International Relations

Irreproducibility in life sciences is a growing concern. When you combine complex experimental designs, dodgy statistics and questionable reagents (antibodies in particular) you're bound to make some false conclusions. The top journals are less likely to be affected but you don't get to hear about the tons of stuff published down the IF hierarchy. Its just piles of shit mate, get over it.

It has been only 6 years since the MIT research group demonstrated CRISPR as a system for human genome editing. In that time, we have already made it to the first human trials.

You are a retard if you think this wasn't a landmark technology. Although it will also NEVER be as good as sci-fi fags wish it was. It will probably be used to cure many genetic diseases in the future, and drive innovation across all biotech fields, just like PCR did.

Its not even remotely as bad for biology as it is for economics or psychology, genomics and physiology papers replicate, cell biology, behavioral biology and biomedical research typically do not. That is to be expected considering the circumstances of their intersection with industry, overwhelming number of brainlets who are shuffled into these reaearch teams and the sensitive nature of the phenomena they’re studying. There are parts of the life sciences that are just extremely difficult to design proper experiments for and then there is genetics, physiology, and molecular biology where we do approach the precision of other fields. Self flagellating is more common among biologists over this because they’re on average dumber people and more easily brow beaten, psychology actually deserves to be totally purged because the entire field is based in nonsense, the modern synthesis and our basic understanding of physiology are not nonsense they’re literally biological laws that are almost never violated and replicate every single time they’re examined.

RNAi has not nearly the same hype as stem cells and CRISPR. Stem cells have revolutionized early stage pharmaceutical testing and testing of biologics.

What percentage of undergraduate biology majors wish to enter medical or dental school? Every female who did well in my high school wanted to be a doctor/dentist. Then went into biology. Only to find out that just becuase they did well in high school, does not mean they will do well in university. So they’re stuck with a useless bio majors where they have to be a M.Sc or Ph.D to find a job so instead they just transfer to education and become high school teachers.
