What is stopping the American Psychological Association from classifying transgenderism as a mental illness, when the correlation between depression, schizophrenia and suicide is linked with transgenderism - as verified by several independent organizations? According to the APA gaming disorder is a mental illness. Should the American people hold the psychological association accountable for misleading the public?

This is not political by the way. Psychology is a science so it's fair game.

Mental illness is defined by distress, dysfunction, and deviancy all being met which I find flawed. A psychopath maybe deviant but most aren't dysfunctional and the condition itself doesn't cause distress.
