>In the 1960s, Maharishi Mahesh Yogi described a paranormal effect claiming a significant number of individuals (1% of the people in a given area) practicing the Transcendental Meditation technique (TM) could have an effect on the local environment.[93] This hypothetical influence was later termed the Maharishi Effect. With the introduction of the TM-Sidhi program in 1976, the Maharishi proposed that the square root of one percent of the population practicing the TM-Sidhi program, together at the same time and in the same place, would increase "life-supporting trends". This was referred to as the "Extended Maharishi Effect".[94][95] Evidence, which TM practitioners[96] believe supports the existence of the effect, has been said to lack a causal basis.[97] The evidence was said to result from cherry-picked data[98] and the credulity of believers.[97][99]

brainlets actually believe this. and no, not backwoods yokel brainlets; more like the wealthy urban professional brainlets you see walking around "gentrified communities"

fuck newagers. learn some fucking science.

Post something relevant to today. Why are you bringing 80s burnt out acid infused hippies here? Retards exist everywhere, if they dress and behave a certain way fed up people believe them and retard gains a following. Not that complicated.

i just visited their website to see what's up there. a random window popped up seeking to chat with me (a girl, even.) i'll post the transcript here.

Kayla 20:33
Hey I'm Kayla (and I'm a real person). Can I help you with anything?
Visitor 20:33
Hi! if you are not a robot please type a synonym for "crimson"
Kayla 20:34
Hi there
Visitor 20:34
Hi again
Kayla 20:34
Did I just speak with you?
Visitor 20:34
Yes, I said the following:
"Hi! if you are not a robot please type a synonym for "crimson""
Kayla 20:35
Yes, I saw that.
Visitor 20:35
and?
Kayla 20:35
Red. Is there anything I can help you with?
Visitor 20:35
okay, sorry for that
there are far too many robots i've encountered
Kayla 20:36
I see.
Visitor 20:36
are you a believer in the Maharishi effect?
Kayla 20:36
Yes.
Visitor 20:36
can you explain why you believe it is a real thing?
Kayla 20:37
I’m sorry, I’m not the right person to be answering this. If you want to know more about TM, I recommend checking out the TM website: www.tm.org.
Visitor 20:37
i am just asking you about why you believe what you claim to believe
surely you have a reason why you were convinced it is real, right? it would be pretty outlandish unless there were some good reason for buying into that, right?

2/2

Kayla 20:38
Because I’ve seen the change within myself from TM and those around me.
Visitor 20:39
doesn't the maharishi effect claim that it has a physical effect on the environment? as opposed to purely psychological effects?
Kayla 20:40
Let me see if I can find you an article about the Maharishi Effect, one moment please.
Visitor 20:41
well, you claim to believe in the maharishi effect. do you believe it has a physical effect on the environment, or that it is merely a psychological phenomenon akin to viral ideas?
Kayla 20:41
I recommend reading about it here: https://research.mum.edu/maharishi-effect/
Visitor 20:42
would you mind answering my last question about _your_ particular beliefs on the matter? i don't generally trust links people send me on the internet
Read
Kayla 20:44
I’m not going to add my opinions in this matter. You are welcome to read about the research that has been done on the Maharishi Effect: https://research.mum.edu/maharishi-effect/

I feel your pain OP. Sometimes I read that artists or writers or any kind of public figures I like are really into meditation and I think "oh neat" but it'd ALWAYS fucking transcendental meditation, the meme scam meditation. Frustrates me to no end.

So the fed up people will fall for the meme. And then realise way too late that make believe doesnt solve real problems. Take a breather OP its all fine.

I remember reading about that some time ago... They made an "experiment" on an American city (I don't remember which, I think it was Washington D.C.), and found that the crime rate lowered during the meditation...... because they ignored some deaths because of some bullshit.
