Well, the world presumably appears to have a certain mystique in it, the awe of you feeling that there exists something unknown and grandiose in what moves any scientist to uncover the hidden, true nature of the world.

And then you, a statistical physicist, realize that the world can be represented to an astonishingly precize degree by a mere brief collection of relatively simple mathematecal propositions and a bunch of formulas an advanced undergraduate can grasp if he has tried.

I'd kill myself too if I realized that the world is as bland and obvious as it actually is.
