Why is SFU, Canada's most comprehensive university (7 years in a row), the best university to get /sci/ related degrees at?

Ofc it is.

What the fuck does "comprehensive" even mean? This sounds like some cringe dubious award the university won and now shills on their promo booklets.
Look, the only actually good universities in Canada are Toronto and UBC.
McGill is Cope U for people who couldn't get into either of those, but it's not a bad school.
Waterloo is acceptable for physics/CS/math even though they're shit at everything else, but honestly even their math program is mostly a meme they perpetuate by having a massively disproportionate math department growing on the campus like a fucking tumour.

Anything outside of those four is a great value brand degree.

McMaster University is Canada's most research intensive university so if you're actually smart go there.

Are you being serious? You are obviously an Ontario poster lol. No one goes to McGill. They go to the only good 3 universities in canada. Uric UBC SFU. There is a reason why BC is number 1 in everything. The worst UVic student is still better then the best UoT student.

Stopped reading there. There is no way that anyone can believe this unironically. UBC comp sci is better. **BCIT** comp sci is better. I have friends doing SFU comp sci, and the moment they graduate each is broke and homeless for a few years before giving up and just going into another industry. SFU doesn't have the name prestige of UBC and doesn't give you the practical skills that BCIT does. SFU comp sci is so outdated that **C** is still taught in lower level courses. C! That's right, every student has to learn in lower level classes an outdated and completely obsolete programming language. What a joke. It's like they haven't updated their curriculum in 20 years. Absolutely pathetic.

>>10507446
Buddy I bet you did some coding camp or something lol. I know a few grads who are in SV or in high paying jobs. Also C is an extremely important coding language, teaches people memory management and data structures. OO is one big joke.

>>10507445
Honestly UVic was thrown in for the lads, but honestly SFU and UBC are way better then UoT or Waterloo

Going to an expensive top school in Canada vs a decent local one that is cheaper makes zero difference for long term career prospects.

This has been studied. Just don’t go to a garbage university and you will be fine

>Define garbage universities
Any "university" that is bought and paid for by corporate interests and/or is driven by the profit motive. These kinds of things tend to lead to corruption.

A good clue is if the word University comes last in the name i.e. Simon Fraser University vs. University of BC. If the name comes last it probably means that it started out as a college.

This is a good meme, what a shitty ranking site.

Sfu was made in the 60s from nothing, the province made it as a university. Also garbage uni's have names that have no meaning, UoT, UoW, UBC.

Ours has a great explorer as the name, and we have Scottish heritage. Imagine graduating to Scotland the Brave
