I hate it when conspiracy theorists find an "inconsistency" and latch on to it. You'd show them that the inconsistency is exactly what's expected by reality, but they'll ignore it simply because the explanation isn't immediately intuitive and thus there MUST be a conspiracy.
An example of this was when I ran into a moon hoaxer who used the fact that there was a dialog of the Apollo 11 astronauts rehearsing for a tv interview during their flight to the moon as evidence for a conspiracy. His reasoning is that the crew was rehearsing for a staged interview since to him practicing for interview was "odd". He completely ignored that the Apollo 11 crew were at the time the most important men for American national pride and thus would make sense for them to practice so that they don't slip up on live television and accidentally embarrass themselves. Absolutely ridiculous.

I blame movies. Yes, the vacuum of space is dangerous and requires different design processes that what most people are used to (ex: out-gassing), but it's not impossible to deal with.

There's a popular YouTube conspiracy theorist who's evidence that the ISS doesn't exist because apparently the o-rings needed to seal the cupola shutters would fail due to them needing to hold back the vacuum of space. Completely ignoring that (1) o-rings that can deal with greater pressure differences exist (I've even worked with them so I know they exist), (2) the shutters aren't operated that often IIRC so wear wouldn't be that bad. His "evidence" ignores the every other piece of evidence that the ISS does exist including seeing it with his own eyes.

Yes, this theorist who said that the ISS doesn't exist has not only seen it with his own eyes, but has recorded it in detail and posted the video on YouTube for everyone else to see. And yet he still denies the existence of the ISS.

I actually think about this pretty often lately because trolls like flat-earthers get a lot of attention lately, but also more and more people believe in things like chemtrails. Where did you get that idea? The Apollo program clearly shows that the Earth is round (example: https://www.nasa.gov/content/blue-marble-image-of-the-earth-from-apollo-17/)), and the program clearly exists. Therefore it can be safe to conclude that the Earth isn't flat.

If your video has a counter argument against that, then give me a time-stamp so I can review the argument in a timely manner.

>I'm not doing your own research for you
And I'm not going to formulate your argument for you. You can't just show a 2 hour long video as a response to criticism and just say "the answer is in there somewhere". That's lazy and it will not convince anyone to agree with your point.

Unless you actually explain succinctly how the Apollo missions don't falsify the flat Earth notion, then this will be my last response to you. It's obvious that you don't want yo debate your point, you just want to preach and sound important.

Let me clarify what is going on here. Your ability to rationalize is terrible. My personal beliefs are not even relevant and have not been mentioned once, what I'm trying to do is expose how the average person derives truth and how terrible and irrational and arrogant they are about it.

Here's a list of claims in that statement that could be proved or disproved:
>nazis claim the existence of a pool proves Auschwitz was not a death camp
>the swimming pool was built for firefighting
>the diving boards were added later
>the pool was only accessible by non-jews

Argument problems:
>contradiction about whether it was a swimming pool or not
>statement that it's existence has no bearing on conditions within the camp

The people who tell you to believe scientific concencus say that pretty much every single value and moral held by scientists over 50 years ago were wrong.

Racial superiority was scientific consensus but because that's in the past so it's wrong.

Scientific consensus (S) is a function of time. Scientific consensus also has less to do with published papers and more to do with public opinion.
S(1900, race) = blacks are subhuman
S(1950, race) = races are different
S(2000, race) = we are different but equal

Median response is that the IQ gap is 50% heritable.

You have a choice. Reject scientific consensus.

You're now floating in a postmodern nightmare non-Euclidian space with an infinity of contradictions and truths mangled and mashed together at random.

It doesn't matter that you might be proven right years later because you would be right for the wrong reasons since you didn't have any evidence at the time.

Whether you're right or wrong, always make sure it's for the right reason.

Or it could mean that you disagree with other scientists? I mean, I'm only an autodidact when it comes to these things, but consider how much physicists disagree over areas of physics like string theory. Just because these physicists don't see eye-to-eye doesn't mean that each sect doesn't have good reasons and research justifying its viewpoint.

Other areas like global warming require complex modelling and a large emphasis on assumptions when trying to predict changes in climate as well as the relative importance of contributing factors in the change in climate. Negative feedback loops, positive feedback loops, unknown contributors, etc. The science is complicated and it's not unknown for the majority of scientists to act in bigoted ways towards unorthodox theories, they're human just like you or me.

The concept wasn't arbitrarily chosen. Spearman observed that success in certain subjects positively correlated with success in other subjects, and based on this observation a 'generalised intelligence' was statistically calculated that was found to accurately predict the future success in other cognitive tasks. Concurrently Binet constructed tests to measure intelligence based on the concept of having a ratio of your 'mental age' divided by your 'actual age', producing an "Intelligence Quotient". This was originally intended for children, but as general intelligence was found to exist in adults as well, the two concepts were merged. Now you can critique the relevance of this metric or whatever but it wasn't fabricated, it was discovered.

The subjects English students were taught in 1910?

Here's what he himself said about g, "When asked what G is, one has to distinguish between the meanings of terms and the facts about things. G means a particular quantity derived from statistical operations. Under certain conditions the score of a person at a mental test can be divided into two factors, one of which is always the same in all tests, whereas the other varies from one test to another; the former is called the general factor or G, while the other is called the specific factor. This then is what the G term means, a score-factor and nothing more. But this meaning is sufficient to render the term well defined so that the underlying thing is susceptible to scientific investigation; we can proceed to find out facts about this score-factor, or G factor. We can ascertain the kind of mental operations in which it plays a dominant part as compared with the other or specific factor. And so the discovery has been made that G is dominant in such operations as reasoning, or learning Latin; whereas it plays a very small part indeed in such operation (sic) as distinguishing one tone from another. . . G tends to dominate according as the performance involves the perceiving of relations, or as it requires that relations seen in one situation should be transferred to another. . . .

p1

>> No.10508395

>>10508390

On weighing the evidence, many of us used to say that this G appears to measure some form of mental energy. But in the first place, such a suggestion is apt to invite needless controversy. This can be avoided by saying more cautiously that G behaves as if it measured an energy. In the second place, however, there seems to be good reason for changing the concept of energy to that of "power" (which, of course, is energy or work divided by time). In this way, one can talk about mind power in much the same manner as about horse power. . . . . . .G is in the normal course of events determined innately; a person can no more be trained to have it in higher degree than he can be trained to be taller."

p2

Btw when he says 'tone' he's referring to musical pitch perception.

Im gonna sound like an asshole but its true so whatever. Stupid people do serve a purpose. Whenever there is a genius going up the ranks (im not saying im one), they form a barrier. They are the assholes in any "hero" story. For ex when Einstein was still a clerk in the patents office his contemporaries offered very harsh resistance to his theories (explaining the particle nature of light as well as special relativity) because of their own insecurities towards not being able to understand a logically sound theory. That only helped his theories stand the unequivocal test of harsh criticism.
Now imagine a dumbo not being a dumbo, not getting offended by his own stupidity. Imagine Einsteins paper buried somewhere because no one cared enough. Similar parallels can be found in every other persons story who actually made an impact on the collective of human knowledge, unlike the 99.9% of us.
My point is simple, without stupids getting offended and making a ruckus a worthwhile individual cant make an impact on the public subconscious. There is a reason why every mythological story follows the same "hero" routine, because its the most compelling one and literally everyone can relate to it.
