Because schools are made so even the dumbest ones can learn the topic.

Common education is not a place for smart people, it’s made for commons.

Any other answer is irrelevant. Rarely there are really bad teachers, but even good teachers only have so many hours assigned to them.

I'm not sure with algebra but I remember in Calculus there were a variety of problems the teacher would put on the board where there was a certain way to solve them that wasn't intuitive.

I only gave a fuck about learning math when I started to make games and realized how usefull was all that dumb high school shit.

How would you teach algebra /sci/? What parts of the standard curriculum would you cut out? Would you even have a standard curriculum?
