If the human body is self-regulating why do humans need to brush and floss or their their teeth turn yellow and rot?

The human body is naturally cleaning, but it is not natural to chug 2 Liters of Pepsi followed by an entire 8-pound package of Twizzlers. Turns out even the human body cannot fight that amount of sugar alone

>>10419950
so if you went and ate nuts and berries for the rest of your life youd never have to brush your teeth?

>> No.10420048

>>10419950

technically the teeth enamel is not fighting sugar. it's fighting the bacteria that survive on the sugars
acids are a bigger problem though

This is stupid.

It's really because the human life expectancy increased exponentially. our teeth haven't evolved to accommodate yet.

but they will.

One of the main causes of death in mammals is tooth loss.
>Elephants have four molars, one on each side of the upper and lower jaw. Until age 40, these are replaced by larger molars. The new molars shift forward from the back of the jaw as the old wear down. The final set of molars last for about twenty years.

Unironically yes. I know a guy who only eats fruits and vegetables, and he never brushes his teeth. He has no bad breath at all.

Because tooth brushing is part of that self-regulation.

Self regulating doesn't mean that one becomes immune to bacteria. Plaque will still build up.

They wont rot but a certain level of care for ones teeth is always necessary. Just like you wouldn't shit and get up without wiping or washing afterwards, you don't eat and leave large hunks of food on your teeth
