What should big brains (125iq>) study to benefit mankind?Do the intelligent have a responsibility to use their big brains?

(Real answer: Whatever you're willing to put a lot of work into because making a real contribution to your field is very difficult.)

There is nothing out there that ”benefits mankind", there is only a market. You can single handledly discover the cure for cancer, but if it doesn't fit into the big pharma's schemes you will be shut down.
"Benefit mankind" is just a pretty expression for mere money grabbing.

Richard Borcherds IQ is 137. A lot of the inflated astronomical scores you hear from people back in the day that make it seem as though you need a retardedly high IQ to do subject a b or c are ratio IQ's that aren't calculated the same way, a great example being Ted Kaczynski getting the astronomical score of 167 as a kid and then doing the WAIS in prison and getting a more ordinary 135.

But I'd say the standard for big brain is closer to 130, 125 is more like a functionary.

NO, the worst way to waste your big brain is studying something only because you have the "brains" to do it.

I know a guy who got 180 when he was a kid. I know there are various reasons why that can be the case etc etc, with WAIS (or the kids version) not even being designed for scores that high. I could see him being in the 140-150 range today however

You guys need to figure out a way to purge specifically nonwhites and mutts through selective genophagy before they ruin the entire planetary biosphere and kill all life.

Even something that specifically targets something like bantu or dravidian genetic profiles would work.

They have no responsibility to do somthing in life because they were born a certain way. Its not his responsibility to use what he was gifted, in the same way that its not the job of a man with incredible muscle mass to become an olympic lifter for his country.

There is hardly a difference between 130 and 125 in terms of actual performance on an IQ test. We're talking a few vocabulary items and a few seconds on a block arrangement puzzle.

>What should big brains (125iq>) study to benefit mankind?
They should not do anything to contribute in its current state. We need societal collapse and to rebuild from the ashes. The entire framework, social attitudes, and hierarchy is dysgenic.
>Do the intelligent have a responsibility to use their big brains?
No, they have no responsibility at all. In fact, the very implication of it makes them NOT want to help at all. You don't value them enough to say they warrant investment, yet resent them enough to want them to do things for you at their own sweat and tears because of some notion of "responsibility".

A score of 135 as a 50-something year old man who, at the time of the test-taking, had been living the last twenty odd years in the forest and a jail cell is not "ordinary" in any way.

he's still attempting to push technology even if a lot of it is within the realm of video games, that still doesn't mean it can't be applicable to other areas of tech.

Rage for example is just remembered as a mediocore game that ran poorly instead of an experimental attempt to truly innovate video game graphics, which is exceptionally rare for a blockbuster even in 2011s video game climate.

Got a source on Carmack's psychologist praising his intelligence?
He is obviously extremely smart, but I've never heard about a professional weighing in on the subject.
Also remember, Carmack contributed significantly to the success of Oculus VR, a company that was worth billions of dollars. Arguably, producing that kind of value is a benefit to mankind.

Facebook paying out the ass for it doesn't mean it was valuable. Just look at all the failed projects Intel has poured billions into, effectively siphoning resources away from actually valuable projects into a black hole.
