We need to lower the fertility rates in Africa as soon as possible. Moderate population growth is fine, but Africa can't sustain growth rates like 3% because of their missing infrastructure, therefore turning this "chance to rise from poverty because of workforce" into a nightmare scenario because too many will be uneducated, jobless and dirt poor. Only the industrial nations could cope with such enormous growth rates and even that will take time.

The fate of humanity in that aspect will be decided in Africa and whether we will allow them to double their population every 30 years or not. It's not about killing people because they are inferior or anything, it's about preventing the total collapse of Africa and the regions Africans will flee to eventually. Countries like Nigeria will be better off with a 1% growth rate, in every aspect.

Theoretically, there's not much more to it. Getting them to go from 5.2 children to ~2.5 will be very hard, but apart from that, it's quite easy. Then, it will be about living eco-friendly, the most important part being renewable energy and less resource wastage.

At the same time, we need to ensure no one dies out. In the very long term, every nation should have a fertility rate of 2.1. That means that the industrial nations should hurry with increasing their rates a bit, because their efforts in terms of technological advance are needed urgently. Things like GMOs, maybe even used at humans, can help us combat this issue if they are used responsibly.

7.75 billion people is still manageable, but we will probably get serious problems starting at >8.5 billion.

TL;DR: We use fewer and fewer farmland every year despite our global population. And food is becoming more and more plentiful while using fewer pesticides every year and doing less harm to the environment as well. The population will peak at around 10 billion in 2100 and reduce after that. We find and produce more resources faster than the population is growing and consuming them while at the same time lowering CO2 output. And we are actually rebuilding the ecosystems and have a net reforestation which led to a global environmental golden age right now.

In fact our fertility rates are dropping so rapidly right now that experts are afraid we will actually face a UNDERPOPULATION crisis in the long term. Which is also why countries such as China stopped the 1 child policy and is not pressuring women to have more children.

In my picture you can see just how rapidly the fertility is dropping globally. All dark blue countries have a declining population right now and even Africa is projected to be completely light blue in the mid 2030s if current trend continues.

This is a very big problem because after having a lot of campaigns to try and stop overpopulation in the 1990s it's very hard for governments and institutions to suddenly change the narrative that we need to grow our population again. This rapid shrink is not sustainable especially as an aging population means that younger people will have to work more to provide for the older people in society.

People also over-exaggerate the impact of climate change.

In my picture you can see the average global temperature rising. As you can see we haven't even reached 1.5 degrees increase yet. Scientists say that if we change course before 2020 we can stay under 1.5 degrees warmup. If we don't then we'll reach 2 degrees warm up in 2050 and 3 degrees warm up in 2130.

Somewhere between 3 and 4 degrees of warmup will result in total environmental collapse because a positive feedback loop will start where the warmup will cause gasses to release causing even more warmup. However this total ecological collapse will take an estimated 10,000-50,000 years.

Also the dates of 3 degrees warm up in 2130 didn't take into account our currently growing renewable energy usage and our drop in CO2 output and decline in population growth. the 2130 date is based on exponential growth of our population as well as our pollution. In reality at current rates this date is most likely going to be reached at ~2200-2300.

So we have about 2 to 3 centuries left to find a technological solution to this problem or even slowly adapt to new energy generation. Hell even if we somehow outlaw all power sources except the most dirty ones we would still have at the very least ~10110 years to find a technological solution to the environmental collapse and we have about 110 years time to stop the collapse from happening altogether.

10110 years ago we didn't even invent agriculture yet. 110 years ago the industrial revolution barely happened. You are naive if you think humanity can't find a solution to these problems and that any of this was actually a threat at any point in time for humanity. Humanity is in its golden age right now we are doing things almost perfectly. I don't think we have an overpopulation problem. We have an equality problem. The general population only exists to maintain the economic system that allows those at the top to skim their living. There isn't any other purpose to it. Why should somebody amass billions of dollars while other people starve because they don't have a couple of dollars a day? The earth can support many more people, just depends if we want to live that way.

Also climate change isn't so much the issue, the issue is civil unrest due to change caused by climate change. I'm sure the changes required to exist when insects are dying out, water tables run dry, monoculture depletes top soil and lack of gainful employment will cause social and civil unrest. I think that is why we see a push to remind us that we are individually responsible for ruining the world and overpopulating it. Those at the top want us to stop breeding and stop consuming. I'm pretty sure they aren't going to though.

This might sound really dumb. But in my aquarium I increase the levels of co2 above what is naturally possible, adding co2 to the water through a co2 reactor. This is because co2 is the limiting factor in my plant growth and even with agitation, temperature and atmospheric concentration being constant means I can only reach 12-13ppm without pure co2.

When I increase the co2 above these levels assuming sufficient nutrition and light plant growth is almost without limit. Artificial light is so inferior to sunlight it isn't funny.

So based on my stupid brain, surely increased atmospheric co2 should result in rapid plant growth, especially in equatorial regions? Like, co2 is going through the roof boys, but the plants are packing on mass for days.

This thread reminds me that humanity has been caught in an evolutionary trap for a long time now.

I have a plan of action but I'd probably come off as an extremist to a normalfag. It is essentially modeling China's one child policy but incorporating automation to sustain the elderly/those in need temporarily as social services will collapse due to the sudden decrease in productivity.
