Have you guys ever used nootropics (cognitive enhacers) to study?

How hard would it be to ruse my doctor into diagnosing me with ADHD if I'm already in my twienties?

Is this your first time on 4chan or what? But I'll take the bite: Yes with a positive, but small effect. To answer your second question: The consens of 4chan and reddit seems to be that it's quite easy.

Yes, I inject estrogen every day and boost it with some onions. I'm a math GOD now.

I hardly ever come to this board, thought this was the place for such a question. Been browsing 4chan since I was 14.

I used several psychedelic "nootropics" under whose influence I became acquainted with certain geometric principles that I have reported on.

My brain makes its own serotonin, Ach, dopamine, GABA, Glutamate, Tryptamine.

I can modulate this by exercise, sex, socialising and praying

I used to be able to do these things, but now sweaty clothes are a major problem, and the coin laundry is at times prohibitively expensive due mainly to my persistent condition of indigence. I really miss, the reduced stress of using money instead of stealing, and I miss being able to effortlessly wash my clothes each time they become soiled. I have been deprived of these facilities for about 21 months.

Adult diagnosed ADHD is a thing and more common than you would think especially for those who didn't show symptoms of hyperactivity, but the other traits as a child.

Methylphenidate and informed lifestyle changes based on the research of the disorder drastically changed my life.

phytoestrogens are more common in beer and sardines than soja beans
but they should be avoided since they have no feminizing effects but will block receptors that could otherwise interact with the real human estrogen in your system

At about 21 or 22 I went to a shrink and got diagnosed with adhd, inattentive type. He tested for weakness to distraction and working memory ability. Both of those were well below average and unusual poor compared to my other higher than average test scores. I then had documentation of adhd diagnosis which later allowed me to later get adderall or Ritalin scripts. Both were helpful. Adderall made me feel like my personality had completely changed which was disconcerting to say the least. Ritalin was basically a form of super caffiene with basically no bad side effects.

Drugs work if you believe they work.
This is how the pharmaceutical industry works.
In fact, this is how every industry and science works.

methylphenidate, but it's only as helpful as you are capable. Some studies have shown it slightly improves certain types of cognitive functions.

Not hard at all. I got an addy scrip around 21 by coming in and playing up my ADD attributes. Stopped taking them a year or two after, from a very strong feeling that they were a Faustian bargain.

Onions doens't contain raw estrogens. They contain phyto-estrogens and they don't harm you at all. They don't turn you into a sissy boy. Even if you avoid all onions and beer or whatnot, you still get your phyto-estrogens. You took a meme and now think it's a reality.

>> No.10287020

Part 1

1. Quite a few people gets diagnosed with ADHD as adults, as mentioned by previous poster mostle the non hyperactive type (formerly add), if I remember correctly the number of ADHD diagnosis for 20-30 year old are around 1/3 that of children

2. To all the brainlets posting here,
>>10282660
Estrogen and testosterone have little effect on overall lntelligence, as seen in studies if transgender people on hormone replacement therapy, however there is a general tendency for small increases in verbal and small decrease in visual type intelligence tests with estrogen supplementation and vise versa with testosterone. While visual type tests seems more beneficial for mathematics, this is not nessearily true, but does require you to reframe problems to fit verbal type tests if you want to utilize this
>>10282980
... Yeah you can increase decrease production of several monoamines by changing behavior, as well as basically all other hormones and regulatory / signaling compounds.
However these effects are quite minimal in comparison to what can be done with pharmaceuticals, not to mention that all these actions take up ALOT of time, and while providing other benefits which are hard to replicate with current medicine, intelligence and focus change are practically non existent and quite small respectively

>>10283679
Phytoestrogens are basically a meme, the concentrations in any food you are likely to consume is too low to have any significant pharmacological effect, further most of them are metabolised practically instantly.
>>10283689
Well that greatly depends on which nootropic you are talking about, some, like methylphenidate, modafinil and caffeine have throughout the years been researched extensively and have few to no side effects, with methylphenidate you are able to find all sorts of side effects but the occurrence of these are extremely rare in reality and some have no recorded occurrence (see star slave codex who went through this)

Honestly what are you doing on /sci/ just go back to herbal healing with living crystals and whach your spirit science.
Drugs work, as mentioned we fucking test if it's just beleif or not... That's why placebo controls are basically used in every drug trial and study.

3.
So OP I've tried some nootropics and done quite a bit of research on them, there's a lot of hype about them online and there are like 800 different ones, however the facts is that almost none of them have any significant effects, and most have little research on their safety, drugs often promoted such as racetams haven't really shown any cognitive benefits (there are few Studies showing it but most have small sample sizes or on rats) and side effects are largely unknown, drugs like phenibut might help if you are suffering from stress or anxiety but the research is conflicted, however it does have quite a few health issues, taking it once in a while is fine, but addiction and tolorencene quickly manifests. L-theanine might have slight benefits for attention but there's insufficient research and the effects is minimal at best, however it doesn't have any significant side effects and lowers twitching from caffeine, talking about caffeine, does have some effects which again aren't amazing but better than everything else I've talked about up until now, on attention, taking caffeine with l theanine have few if any health effects and does provide some benefit. Levodopa / tolcapone both have some effect but not worth the potential side effects (I've read but I'm not 100% sure about this one)

Those were some that had some effect (or with pirscetam potentially some effect) but not alot

These here have basically no effect to increase cognition but might lower it if your deficient in them (eg bad diet)
Omega-3, folate, b vitamins, vitamin e

These however does have significant effects :
Amphetamine / methylphenidate: they increase attention significantly, and in children increases

>> No.10287074

Part 3

IQ (a little), they do increase academic performance (however possibly only in ADHD patients), and are relatively safe, (see Star slate codex) but methylphenidate is possible safer as it doesn't affect dopanergic neuron synapses in the same way

Modafinil : increase focus somewhat tho significantly less than methylphenidate & amphetamine, but does have some effect in cognitive function when you are tired (as too the stimulants) and if you aren't tired but only if you have a specific genotype, have few side effects, makes you urinate more and you might have a deadly allergic reaction tho that's literally one in a million (if you do you get red skin, it takes about 48 hours for you do die from it, so go to the hospital, easily resolved there)

Nicotine : does increase memory and if taken alone as with nicotin gum it's not particularly dangerous

NSI-189 this promotes hypocampal neurogenesis, increase the size of your hypocampus, which seems to improve memory, however it's very new and little research is know about side effects - tho they seems mild

Orexin - an endogenous peptide which seems to play an important role in wakefulness, if bought and taken intranasally it makes you feel completely awake for about 2 hours however no health research is done about it exogenous administration

ketogenic diet : ketogenic diet makes a ketone that inhibits an enzyme that increases some thing and you might learn some things faster - tho this is very much a many
