How is y=x2 a parabola?! If y EQUALS x2 - then shouldn't it be a STRAIGHT LINE since they both EQUAL EACH OTHER?

Why is "x" separated from 2? How is it " = " (EQUAL) when you're asking me "hey /y/ is equal to /x/ on steroids...but don't forget to calculate /y/ by taking off the steroids from /x/ lol"

isn't 42 = 16?! why can't you calculate the "x" while graphing it?
