is autism purely genetic or does it have environmental causes?

yes

AS/HFA:
>Hans Asperger described common symptoms among his patients' family members, especially fathers, and research supports this observation and suggests a genetic contribution to Asperger syndrome. Although no specific gene has yet been identified, multiple factors are believed to play a role in the expression of autism, given the phenotypic variability seen in children with AS.[8][55] Evidence for a genetic link is the tendency for AS to run in families and an observed higher incidence of family members who have behavioral symptoms similar to AS but in a more limited form (for example, slight difficulties with social interaction, language, or reading).[5] Most behavioral genetic research suggests that all autism spectrum disorders have shared genetic mechanisms, but AS may have a stronger genetic component than autism.[8] There is probably a common group of genes where particular alleles render an individual vulnerable to developing AS; if this is the case, the particular combination of alleles would determine the severity and symptoms for each individual with AS.[5]

Classical Autism:
>Genetic factors may be the most significant cause for autism spectrum disorders. Early studies of twins had estimated heritability to be over 90%, meaning that genetics explains over 90% of whether a child will develop autism.[15] However, this may be an overestimation, as new twin studies estimate the heritability at between 60–90%.[16][17] Many of the non-autistic co-twins had learning or social disabilities. For adult siblings the risk for having one or more features of the broader autism phenotype might be as high as 30%.[18]

Autism doesn't real.

But seriously, it's insulting to insinuate a person is on the spectrum unless they're obviously disabled; a spectrum that can encompass nearly everyone with the right perspective.

Not sure if autist or roastie

It's a spectrum, so everyone is on it. Idiot.
It's about whether you have enough traits to warrant a diagnosis or not.
Also, high IQ people are neurotypical and tend to exhibit more autistic traits than average IQ people.
So actually it's more a measure of neuro diversity, and why there is such an overlap with geniuses and those with AS/HFA.
However, if you're too neuro divergent it hampers you and that's when you get low IQ people with severe autism.

Autism, and ADHD are more prevalent in high IQ individuals.

What did she mean by this

>> No.10262079

High IQ people are by their very definition neurodivergent. That is, they are "not average", average being the norm.
Also, they have novel neurological structures. Look at the forensic analysis of Einstein's brain as an example.

Yes, that's exactly what I'm saying.

And they still found unusual neurological structures.
Nice attempt at posturing though, I'm so sick of this hostile 4chin custom.
Unless you've got something useful to say, shut up.

I was saying that Einstein had his brain removed and being normal would of allowed him a normal burial, autismo.

Ah, apologies. I'm so used to 4chan snark that it has corrupted me in turn.
