Ok /sci/ me and other robots on r9k have been doing a thought experiment about a giagantic apartment, that 947 million people live in, its practially endless, and has a giant tower, that is also endless, what im wondering, is can you determine the dimensions of it?

Infinity, necessarily.

OP contradicts himself by also saying 947 million people live in it, so it's not endless, then calls it practically endless, then says it's endless again

They are endless. How dull are you?

just read about it, its entirely ridiculous. Theres no physical way a partially abandoned building of the dimensions you guys state would sustain life for more than a week at most. There are million of other problems but the most clear one is food.

You talk about "rural" floors. well, what kind of farming does it use is it tradiational farming with dirt using the suns light? then if your building had 10 times the cross section of the WTC then you would need about 400-500 stories purely devoted to "rural" floors for each SINGULAR PERSON you want to keep alive in there.

You could reduce that to maybe say... 10-20 floors per person if you switch to ultra efficient hydroponics. but that would imply a constant working power source and either a full staff of people constantly working under good conditions or a fully automated self repairing ai. At that point what is the point? why the fuck is the building in disrepair if you have that kind of infrastructure. Even yet, why the fuck would you have a shitty huge "dystopic" building when any first year architecture student knows how to design a much more greener and efficient smartly shaped tower? The only reason you have huge slums is because of lack of money resources and mental capacity.

It's hard to think of an technological civilization that can make a building with smart self repairing ai provided with huge amounts of electricity from some power source but cannot design that building correctly.

Hive city from 40k basically.
People on one floor will likely never meet people on other floors.
The surrounding area will have to produce food for the building.
Water will be recycled as will people's piss and shit.
Most people will never see the sky.
Genetically engineered food which grows fast.
Lots of wageslaving.
/r9k/ can't live in here unless it's in the far future.

Plenty of food if you know where to look.

how the fucking fuck, its so fucking tall that you take days to walk between floors? its so fucking ran down there are factions between the floors? where do they fucking keep the food? it makes no sense logistically at all unless th ebuilding gets permanently restocked

No but it doesnt make sense at all, vaguely adressing it doesnt help the issue.

Its like if i told you, i wrote a story in which the character carries a steamroller in his backpack.

and then you say retarded anon thats wildly unrealistic

and then i say "but i removed the seat to make it lighter so there the problem is adressed"

Unless you have something in the high floors sticking out the sides providing vertical thrust the thing will collapse under its own weight.

Maintenance? Hi, resident of 611-166-61-61 here--just thought I'd mention that the entirety of floor 611-116-61-60 has been liquefied for well over a week by now and the smell is starting to take on a festering quality. You said in response to my last note that I was not smelling it because there is no cross-floor ventilation, but I can assure you right here and now that there is certainly a cross breeze and it is certainly carrying the putrid smell of several thousand liters of liquid biomass...

I figured that out as soon as I read "a endless" combined with the retarded comma placements. The only structure OP should build for himself would not tower into the sky but instead sink 6 feet deep into the ground
