"economics" is a pseudo-science
the concepts and equations "work" <10% of the time but the other times they don't work get ignored, all of this due to various forms of bias, from economists who want to look smart and want to desperately be proven right
the only promising breakthroughs in economics that actually show consistent results have come from the fields of psychology and neuroscience; this is because """economics""" is a social construct with a set of socially, in particular politically, constructed rules, so modeling and predicting human behavior has much more utility than trying to apply a few pseudo-scientific equations made by a biased retard who prays to G*d that it actually works

Freud was a liar and a coke-addict. All of his theories have been discredited and in serious circles the whole field of "psychoanalysis" is regarded as acupuncture level pseudoscience. Chomsky is an ivy league pretend anarchist. He's read some interesting books on anarchism and is decent at regurgitating them, but he clearly is a sell-out fraud who spends most of his life lecturing on comfy college campuses about global warming and banning firearms. It isn't a mutually exclusive choice between masturbate or pursue women. Abstinence for me results in less baseline horniness and almost zero sexual thoughts. I would venture to say that you have never practiced it mentally. The benefit is still there. You will be even more motivated, more productive, and the memory may even be better considering you do not have a more evolutionarily important goal being prioritized during memory encoding as you sleep.

there's no point in reading them if you want to be a decent programmer today
you just need math and algorithms and then to check the documentation of a specific language you want to learn

these are meme guides, the people that write them don't know what they're talking about, the university they went to is not even in the top 500 global ranking lmao

these guides are probably the side-effect of scientism, they're being spread all over the internet as if they were some kind of religious paintings or some shit like that

I seriously doubt you will do all exercises in those books and read them properly because, if you were to do it, you'd have a guaranteed job at google

if you manage to study CLRS and a couple of other books properly and know the documentation by heart, then you can go get a job at FAANG, too bad it won't happen

this is just scientism, it's the modern man's obsession and reverence towards IT, mathematics, science, etc. it's mindless obsession that is not productive at all

> Those are all meme books that nobody reads
> You just need math and algorithms and then to check the documentation of a specific language you want to learn.

Math and algorithms are all essential, and many of these books are about math and algorithms: CLRS, TAOCP, Concrete Mathematics, Algorithms, Algorithm Design Manual. Putting those aside, many of the other readings are simply more valuable than documentation. They teach you fundamentals of computer science that even if you do not use are important just for the sake of solidifying a sort of "expertise" in the area. I already write software and know how to use documentation. I just want to understand more. This is no flaw.

> I seriously doubt you will do all exercises in those books and read them properly because, if you were to do it, you'd have a guaranteed job at Google.

The only difficult books are those involving mathematics and algorithms, and that is only if you lack maturity in those field; otherwise they are doable. What is with you and Google, anyhow? There is nothing special about working at Google; even if I had the opportunity I would not be interested. It is just a job like any other job in the technology field, but perhaps a higher pay; not everyone is interested in the highest pay.

Start with Khan Academy, Precalculus (Zill, Swokowsky) and Calculus Stewart. A Transition to Advanced Math and Linear Algebra Done Right Then. Now you can start physics or take more logic and set theory and go to Ordinary differential equations, analysis, abstract algebra and so on.
There is this redundant list but with good books

Some of this are really good like Kleppner intro to classical mechanics

Check the sticky but there are also countless resources if you now how to google. Wish you good experiences in your path.

>what the fuck? why would you read these outdated, historical texts? why not start with Mankiw directly, like most contemporary economics students do? Why the fuck would you read Adam Smith, Marx, von Mises, Sowell, etc. before you have a decent background in modern economics? The FUCK? And you also recommend Keynesian economics for a total beginner that doesn't even know what GDP is?

Honestly, true even if this is just copypasta bait. People get the wrong impression of econ all too often because they start with outdated material because thats the only stuff they've ever heard of

there is no substitute for actually doing projects (no problem can replicate the experience of working on a long-form self-motivated project), but I think you'll find the problems in, say, the art of programming by Knuth to be challenging enough to deal with "what does x do?" whihc you need to build your repertoire.

[math]
1 + x + x^2 + x^3 +...+x^{10} = \frac{1-x^{11}}{1-x}
[/math]

this is just the finite geometric series, plugging in -x you get

[math]
1 -x + x^2 -x^3 +...+x^{10} = \frac{1+x^{11}}{1+x}
[/math]

so multiplying both is [math]
(1-x^{22})/(1-x^2)
[/math] by difference of squares
