>never enjoyed math
>did well in my math classes in high school and university by rote memorization and practicing a bunch of problems
>never actually understood what was going on
>forget everything after taking the test

I am now older and want to learn about topics that involve mathematics, like statistical modelling and machine learning.
But I can't understand the math required for even the basics of these topics, and I can't make any progress.

I saw that the sticky has resources on learning math, but does anyone have tips for quickly getting up to speed with math from the ground up? I feel that I cheated myself out of a good education
