Since Dolphins are apparently sentient am I the only one who wants to crack the Dolphin language just so we can make fun of them for not having any technology and forever be cursed to be incapable of using their intelligence.

For some reason I just want to be a dick to Dolphins.

their language isn't like a human language. it's more similar to birdsong.

or more close to home, you know when a baby is crying or laughing or obviously wants something you are holding, they express it through vocalizations that are very clear but not bound to syntactical rules. any cat owner will tell you that their kitty develops their own vocabulary with different expressions for different things. adults even laugh and cry and say things like "hmmmm!" or "ughhhhh". plus humans associate real emotional meaning with various forms of music

in other words, there is no human-like syntax in dolphin language. they just have a highly developed understanding of what they mean by their sounds, without formal rules like we do

So could we mimic sounds that convey a deep meaning of "You're a faggot"?

>any cat owner will tell you that their kitty develops their own vocabulary with different expressions for different things.
That's because cats are really good at manipulating people. Among feral cat colonies though they really don't do a lot of vocal communication outside of threat displays, or the awful yowling of cats in heat.
Dolphins and whales do though, some have more complex songs than others, some that get longer over the year and then change during the season. They also have names they identify with and greet each other.
Obviously it's not going to be an offshoot of indo-european with anything vaguely familiar to us because of lack of a common reference between a person and a dolphin. I mean we both get hungry and want to fuck, but the basic experiences are so different that you can hardly compare. Just by virtue of having grasping hands and opposable thumbs we can manipulate out surroundings in a way you cant with flippers and a nose hole, meanwhile they "see" in sound and their language could be more about the "shapes" their sounds make than the sound (like "speaking" braille).
If you're really curious, look into a guy named John C. Lilly. He's an interesting character, to say the least.

They're pretty horny, I hear. You might get more than you bargained for, if there are a lot of dolphins around. The one you start with is going to tell the others while it's happening.
>NO FUCKING WAY, THIS HUMAN WANTS TO FUCK OH MY GOD LOL
>YO THIS IS SQUEAK I'M FUCKING A HUMAN RIGHT NOW, COME LOOK
>DUDE LOOK AT HIS DICK IT'S ALL BLUNT AHAHAHAHHAHA

I bet they playfully bite each others' dicks too. I hear they're gay about 80% of the time; when it's not mating season they roam around in separate groups of males and females but don't stop fugging each other.

>Humans do not need to go around thinking about hydrodynamic efficiency
And you don't drive a car and think about aerodynamics. Or consciously notice the constant micro adjustments constantly happening in your body to keep you from falling flat on your face constantly.
Also dolphins are about as hydro-dynamically sound as you can get. You couldn't design a better form for cutting through water than the dolphin developed naturally.
