Paul Erdős senpai slept for only three hours a night, yet he was still able to work so effectively. How did he do it? I can get by on six hours, easily, but anything less is tricky. Is it possible for me to reach his level?

I think it's just genetic but I don't have a single source to back this up. I need 6.5 hours a night and I'd like to go with less as well.

AMPHETAMINES

I used to do the same as a teenager, seemingly to little ill effect functionally. In fact, it made me work better. Things no longer work that way though. Amphetamine alone also won't cut it and isn't relevant here.

There's likely a small genetic basis, the rest having to do with mental and emotional patterns. The competence of the body's antioxidant system being the main aspect.

I part don't remember, and part can't meaningfully summarize what that state is comprised of, what likely maintains it, how it becomes more the bowl than the peak. Chronic stress and long term illness has pretty much torn me to the ground. I feel like a clone with someone else's memories, but even those are fading.

Sorry.

maybe he wouldn't have needed to take amphetamines all the time if he got enough sleep instead LOL

Intellectual work enriches humanity as a whole, for as long as the work persists. But all the effect an athlete can evoke is just "wow, that's a bit stronger/faster than the last guy".

You ever done speed? You ever sleep for 3 hours, wake up, take some speed and expect to just go about your day?

Hint: It doesn't work.

I mean come on people. We're almost speaking on the level of magic. Am I just going to skip sleep and cast my fatigue abolishing and restoration spell? Take a potion to restore my mana, grab an eve hypo? No, you just can't.

my opinion:
no fap (as in: no ejaculations whatsoever)

that's why buddhist monks can sleep so little

Just looked it up and Paul Erdős never married and had no children
And since he was lucky enough to die before the internet, porn was probably not an issue for him.

Napoleon and voltaire supposedly did the same thing but they were exceptional people, and so was erdos. Stuff like that doesn't work for us mortals.

Does constant lack of sleep reduce one's cognitive abilities forever? I was getting 4-5 hrs for the whole previous year and it feels now as if I became a dumbest motherfucker.

I have a nose problem and if i dont sleep 12 hours a day im not at my full, i can usually be fine with 2 two 3 hours a day then again im not at my best, i think it is because im always sleepy that i work so well without sleeping, i always wonder if i would sleep every two or three days if i could breathe properly

But WHY?

I've never had a very stable or structured life, and as a result I've been many different people. I can tell you quite easily that your requirement for sleep can vary greatly, depending on your overall frame of life and mind.
