I am of the opinion that stats has the most real world application of all the mathematical disciplines. try to refute my argument. I will change my stance only with arguments that are logically sound and fact supported

Physics is math

Engineering is by far the biggest real world application of math. Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, all of them uses a lot of math to get shit done.

Statistics would not exist without probability theory.
Some areas of physics, finance, machine learning, and computer ""science""" would also fail to exist without probability theory.
Therefore, probability theory has more real world applications than statistics.

I'd say the things that go into our understanding of fundamental physics like tensor calculus and abstract algebra are used more every second.

Hey, /med/ here. Why is statistics so hard for me? I want to understand it and am interested in it, but the textbooks for medical statistics are so vague and confusing. They sorta just have some terms slapped on there. Should I try studying from a different source or I'm a retard and it's hopeless?

All mathematical disciplines make use of and include each other, much like Chemistry, Biology, Physics etc are all the same science, just different areas of science. Like you can say Chemistry is important and Psychology is useless, but Psychologists are just sacks of chemicals trying to predict and manage the behavior of other sacks of chemicals. Apply Chemistry enough and you have Psychology, apply Arithmetic enough and you have Algebra, Calculus, Statistics, etc. All of them are important.

Statistics seems really useless though.

No. Statistics has lots of cool application.
Estimation, detection, classification, machine learning, signal processing...
The list just goes on and on.
Nowadays statistics has gained a lot of notoriety in many domains.

Statistics is the language of science, kind of like how mathematics is the alphabet of scientific communication.

One should interpret the fields in those terms to see that they are not directly comparable as proposed in the OP

Pic related, but I'll bite anyway. Algebra or arithmetic since they are more foundational and others maths are built on them, they have more applications simply by being a larger intersection of higher maths, wherever the others maths are used, so too is algebra.
