what do you want to know specifically? Campus life? professor recommendations? Good places to eat? Value of the education you receive? Random fun facts?

One thing is for sure, the new automated frozen yogurt machine in Brown is a ripoff.

I am a high school senior who applied for PE, so I was just wondering if you could fill me in your experiences.

Friend of mine goes there. He seems to like it a lot. So I'd say go for it? (my friend is mech E btw)

Have you visited yet? Come visit if you can.

Let's go through some details:
>Campus
They've been building and renovating stuff constantly. New buildings, new pedestrian walkways, and now a new parking garage is going in. Everything is walkable (campus is ~4x7 blocks). Classrooms are generally well equipped, and the labs are pretty thoroughly decked out as well. We've got two machine shops, glass blowing shop, vacuum chamber, lots of test equipment, all sorts of stuff. Could spend forever naming it all off. Dunno specifically about PE, but their building is quite new. Haven't ever been in any of their labs.

>Activities
For a bunch of engineering students we have fuckton of clubs, and a lot of athletics as well. There's something for everyone. SAE, shooting sports, theater, biking, golf, bowling, esports, astronomy, board games, climbing...

>Professors
Some are downright stupid, some are fantastic. It's like any college really. Want some recommended?
>Stone
>Mohagheghi
>Mikucki
>either of the Strongs
>Griesmer
>EBERHART WHOOOOOOOOO
>Karaivanov
>Shorey

>Girls
it's not as bad as you'd think. The ratio sort of evens off, since 2/3rds of the dudes here are slobbery nerds who don't know how to interact in public.

>Golden
Great town. Full of Yuppies. Lots to do!

I gotta go put some pants on right now but I'll be back in a bit with more stuff to share

Thanks! I will try and visit soon. I am concerned about the gender ratio.

>>10113101
it's not an issue. If you could measure the η of the male-female relationship cycles at Mines you'd probably find that people who have the ability to acquire gf *have* acquired gf.

This is the 2nd or 3rd time I've heard of this school. It sounds like a vocational school for future miners

I don't have a single friend in the mining program oddly enough. It's not anywhere close to being the biggest chunk of majors here; the name does confuse people sometimes

All you mechE fags are taking over the damn school. I heard it was the largest department for a few years now. You need to start telling the freshmen to pick some other majors.

Because no one knows what the fuck they actually want to do in life anymore. Including me. Mechanical is generic enough that you can squeeze into anything.
I might swap to materials or something. Wish I could get into the space resources program, but my grades aren't good enough

>> No.10113204

Holy shit is this /sci/s meme school? I mean, I’m an alumni of mines but there seems to be a disproportionate amount of mines students on this board.

Pro tip: don’t live in Golden. Live in Denver and take the light rail or bus. I lived in capital hill and had a dope little hipster apartment that was cheaper than the dorms.

Also, the male/female ratio isn’t that bad because half of the male student body are unlovable hobgoblins and are basically invisible to women.

>>10113190
Do materials, that was fun. I picked it for a second major. The space resources thing, that's the new masters program? Do they have a gpa cutoff?

>>10113204
Yeah but honestly you're better off not dating a mines girl. they're fucking weird. and there's a lot of other local girls that are happy to date a mines boy. Agree with you on the overrepresentation of mines on this board though, it's fucking weird.

I think space resources is just competitive on the basis that there are only so many slots available.
Pretty cool that Sowers is part of the department now; he was at the National Space Society’s Space Settlement Summit today discussing space stuff
