single-celled organisms eventually developed apotposis as a fitness maxing strategy, our ancestors used to be biologically immortal and "chose" or were selected so that they would die and this allowed the vast differentiation of life forms on this planet. Had we remained immortal there would be nothing but the most simplistic replicators on this planet and they would have likely gone extinct since they are less hardy than other forms of life here now. Also, life on Earth went extinct almost completely (for all intents and purposes completely) multiple times but kept restarting and eventually we hit some rhythm that allowed it to persist through multiple mass extinction events. That the answer to the question of Climate Change, if it does exist the form described by the mainstream, can most likely only be countered effectively with a massive reduction in the total number of human beings living within the biosphere, barring miraculous breakthroughs in terraforming capabilities.
No race/civilization seems to be as individually suicidal as Caucasians however, with even the Chinese walking back on their population reduction methods, and so the likelihood of this actually occurring on magnitude great enough to prevent hypothesized catastrophe approaches zero.

Its not the same, there is a nuclear force and electrons which causes the repulsion, the sensation of solidity is basically correct since of course all those atoms actually do constitute the idea of an impediment for your hands, you just assumed it was only material hitting other materials and not nuclear forces repelling each other. But consciousness just does not exist at all, there is nothing like it whatsoever, not even at the macro level as an "emergent" property. Its all disparate and diffuse neurobiological processes at every point. Your "consciousness" of yourself is not even most of what goes on to produce your consciousness or in your background thinking much less most of your brain activity, its a tiny sliver of your "mind" and that is a small portion of brain function at any given time not to mention that you don't have conscious awareness of gene expression or the intermolecular dynamics of your organs. You're a helpless deluded pair of eyes peering through a tiny sliver of self-referential (largely incorrect, coarse grained and illusory) internal representations of external stimuli. Every aspect of your inner life is an amalgamation of external experiences and the phenotype of your nervous system dancing around in one component of your mind-brain. So, its nothing like the repulsive force of atoms against your finger, it just does not have any substance ergo nonexistent and fake.

Wait -- let's look at that a bit more closely.

First, how many Roman documents do we have that mention ANY provencial person from Judea by name? How many that mention some local carpenter in any of the small towns in the province by name? We don't have things like a list of trials carried out by Pilate. We don;t have the itemized expenses for cross-building, or any of the other records where you might expect to find some reference of a local carpenter-turned-street-preacher. If we had all of that (or any of that) then the absence of mention of Jesus would be worth considering. But what we really have a a lack of any documentation from the period wherein he might or might not be mentioned. Roman's were meticulous record-keepers, but there are many years/decades/centuries for which we have little or no contemporaneous source at all. And the further one gets from Rome, where all the stuff that was really important to them was going on, the more fragmentary our records.

The implication that "we went through all these exhaustive documents and couldn't find him" is misleading as Hell.

Nah, it's all about materials. At some point, it's going to become really fucking hard to get things that are fundamentally new, let alone have any beneifit. There is a finite number of elements. While there are huge numbers of ways to arrange said elements, there is no reason to assume that everything we haven't tried yet is better. Most random molecules you could make are probably completely useless, or just redundant.

Cayley's theorem is the coolest theorem in Abstact Algebra. Second is orbit stabilizer theorem. Going from Lagrange's theorem to Orbit Stabilizer theorem is like going from Fundamental Theorem of Calculus to Stokes' Theorem. It's fantastic.

That most stars are red dwarfs with lifespans of a trillion years or more, and will still be shining when the observable universe is roughly a hundred times its present age. On such a scale of time even the life and death of worlds like the Earth are brief episodes that, rare as they are, are concentrated mostly in the first few percent of it. Much as we rightly value consciousness as an end in itself, as art and beauty are, it is far more fleeting and incidental than our intuition about it can ever fathom, whatever happens to be knowable about it through intellect and abstraction.

If animals are conscious why am I a human and not an animal?

The likelihood of me being a human in the 21st century while assuming this is my one and only life is insane considering how many animals there are and the billions of years that happened without humans. So either we're insanely lucky or reincarnation is real and this isn't the first attempt. Or maybe the animals lack souls so I could only be human. Maybe animals are the real NPCs and only intelligent beings can be players.

Not really true as you need two X chromosomes to properly develop all female characteristics. Beyond that "stock gender" means nothing, outside of disease all people either have a Y or an extra X that finishes their genetic information. A singular X isn't a "default" it's a flaw and not entirely female at that.
