Cats are fucking retarded animals. I love them, I own two myself. They have intelligence, but they're also completely fucking retarded. They are animals. They have no sort of higher level thinking they are just things. Yes they have personalities, yes, they can solve basic problems, but they cannot do math, they cannot communicate in any way that isn't instinctual to them. They don't have any sort of complex thought. They just live and exist and do what their instincts tell them to do.
