I too enjoyed Primer.

it was good but i think there's a line between being complex and mysterious, and just being sloppily made and intentionally confusing. i feel like primer toed that line a little closely.

Meh, I don't think it was intentionally confusing. It definitely wasn't sloppily made. It's a complex story for sure, but it wasn't complex for the sake of being complex. The guy who wrote the script really thought things through.

it was definitely well made given its budget, but it required a LOT LOT LOT of participation by the viewer. i found an online plot summary, and honestly without that i never would have been able to figure a lot of stuff out. maybe i'm dumb.

That's what I liked about it. The fact that the person who wrote it probably knows a lot more about physics than I do and the science isn't dumbed down so the large audience can follow the story. It doesn't make compromises.

Seen the movie 3 times now, still don't fully understand it, but you pick up more each time.

For a $7,000, 5 week made movie I thought it was amazing. I love how they don't dumb down the dialogue for the audiences' convenience.

Also OP, the writer (who is also the director, producer, lead actor, composer and editor) has a degree in mathematics and he's a former engineer. So he knew what he was doing regarding the technical dialogue.

Well, to keep it /sci/, that only depends on the number of time traveler movies in existence and the number of time traveler movies you have seen. If you've seen 98% of all 500 billion time travelers movies and Primer is the best one, it's pretty likely that it is the best time travelers movie of all time.

Actually, there's no clear cut answer to the events of the movie, which is how the director planned it. The theory that it's all in his head is possible, but not likely. The clues left on the official website give some helpful hints.
