Funny thing is in countries with very high female emancipation like Norway there are the least women in STEM, while in countries with much less emancipation like India its basically 50/50. Difference is, when a woman can freely choose what she wants to do, she normally goes for social sciences (like in Norway) while in poorer countries women decide for economic factors, e.g. where they are going to find a job easily (like in India) so they choose STEM.
