So I was reading "Moonwalking with Einstein" and I had an idea, has any one every tried to train their mind to shut down the left or right side of their brain at will. It has been shown that reduced activity in the left side of the brain can cause savant like abilities. Some one who could shut down their left side at will might then in theory be able to present savant like abilities.

Also any one know of a cheep way to measure brain activity, doesn't need to be that accurate just some how measure the overall activity of the left and right side.
