Piratebay, Demonoid, other torrenting sites... also great for software (I picked up copies of MaximDL and Mathematica that have been lifesavers).

We'll sometimes have textbook exchange threads here on /sci/ as the semesters approach but other than that all you can really do is sit down and search.

Online resources are great but don't count out good old fashioned books - your local library is guaranteed to have scores of books covering everything from algebra and geometry to vector calculus and differential equations.

What's really important is that you practice. Do practice problems on KhanAcademy, do practice problems from any books you check out, make up problems to solve on your own and check if your solutions work online.

And most importantly - Don't give up!

Don't beat yourself up for dropping out or for going to a community college. Unlike the overwhelming majority of people who drop out, you have the ambition and the will to try again. You don't just wish your life were better, you're willing to work hard and persist and MAKE your life better - and that's a whole world of difference between you and them.

It won't be easy, but if you persevere it will be worth it.

Good luck OP.

Five star post

You should check out a documentary called "Monsters from the Id" - it's all about how the portrayal of scientists in 1950's sci-fi and the genre's domination of cinema during the decade helped inspire the generation of scientists that lead the scientific revolution in the late 50's and early 60's

You can probably find a copy in your university or public library or online somewhere.
