Why are children expected to make serious life ruining decisions like university and then they are just abandoned and told to fuck off if it doesn't pan out well?
I was a decent student, but I really didn't care a lot about school. I just liked lifting weights and playing games. Like maybe at most my goal back there were I wanted to make a game so I was sort of learning programming and drawing at the time. I didn't really think about college at all, but it was the thing I was expected to do. I only applied to local schools. When I got there though because I didn't know what I should do I was undeclared, so I was just doing some general requirements and some math classes. Because I wanted to make games I figured I'd trying to get into programming and I did a few basic classes but then to do more I needed to be part of the major but when I applied I was rejected because it was full. So I then tried to apply for engineering and I was rejected again despite having great grades (4.0 in differential equations and linear algebra). I was really fucked because I was running out of options for classes and needed to get into a major or else I would graduate late. Then I was preyed on by the mathematics department which accepted me without even applying because they were so desperate and I was forced into a math degree.
