Einstein was the classical stereotype of a scientist : Old wtih grey frizzy hair and eccentric.

His work is overpraised only by the laymen community.

Hey /sci/, I just graduated from highschool and was just wondering how hard college math is. Also, do you guys think advanced studying would do me any good? (I'm majoring in both accounting and applied economics)

Dear /sci/, how do I solve this?

1 = 5√(xy) dy/dx

x, y are greater than 0.

I know I need dy and y on one side, and dx and x on the other, and then I need to integrate. But I keep getting stuck. Any help is appreciated!

[spoiler]Speed of light is constant within a given medium, denote it c.

As you approach this speed (but never actually able to reach it) your frame of reference deviates from those who are moving at different speeds.

This implies a space-time deviation from you and he who observes; time will slow for the speedier one and space will shrink to allow for parallel outcomes between both observers. This must happen because end result of both frames must correlate. Time slowdown of the moving frame will be observed by the STATIC observer ONLY. This happens at the same time the moving frame thinks its going through a smaller distance and everything pops out A-OK.

If speedier observer slows down, then frames will merge into one, with time moving at the same rate.

We use the term gamma to denote how close a frame is moving as compared to the universal speed limit C. By using this number we simplify the equations to determine numerically this time slowdown or distance shrinkage.

Basically crazy stuff, and now that I try to type it out, it must be obvious I am just a student who took basic special relativity and forgot a lot due to smoking weed. Hope I still helped a bit though.</spoiler>

Can anyone help me answer these please. I'm pretty stuck. :(

1. Give a unit normal to the plane containing the vectors [2, 1, 1] and [-2,-2,-3].

2. Give a unit normal to the plane containing the vectors [3, -2, 0] and [-3,-2,-3].

3. A vehicle moves from a position -2.075 metres to position -2.035946000 metres after 0.02 s, then -1.998784000 metres after another 0.02 s. Work out an estimate for its acceleration.Give your answer to two decimal places.

4. A vehicle moves from a position 0.439 metres to position .4791040000 metres after 0.02 s, then .5194160000 metres after another 0.02 s. Work out an estimate for its acceleration.Give your answer to two decimal places.

5. A vehicle moves from a position 1.645 metres with initial velocity 4 m/s and acceleration -4.39 m/s^2 for 0.04s. Work out an estimate for its final position. Give your answer to four decimal places.

6. A vehicle moves from a position 0.248 metres with initial velocity 3 m/s and acceleration -1.38 m/s^2 for 0.04s. Work out an estimate for its final position. Give your answer to four decimal places.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Remember when people heard about the neutrino thing and armchair amateur physicists went APESHIT over how it was going to change physics forever?

Yeah, those douchebags should have waited for the common sense explanation to show up:

"A week ago the world went wild over CERN's tentative claim that it could make neutrinos travel faster than light. Suddenly, intergalactic tourism and day trips to the real Jurassic Park were back on the menu, despite everything Einstein said. Now, however, a team of scientists at the University of Groningen in the Netherlands reckons it's come up with a more plausible (and disappointing) explanation of what happened: the GPS satellites used to measure the departure and arrival times of the racing neutrinos were themselves subject to Einsteinian effects, because they were in motion relative to the experiment. This relative motion wasn't properly taken into account, but it would have decreased the neutrinos' apparent journey time. The Dutch scientists calculated the error and came up with the 64 nanoseconds. Sound familiar? That's because it's almost exactly the margin by which CERN's neutrinos were supposed to have beaten light. So, it's Monday morning, Alpha Centauri and medieval jousting tournaments remain as out of reach as ever, and we just thought we'd let you know."
