Not OP. Curious, what are STEM degrees that don't involve physics? I'm looking for majors but bio or chem is absolutely not for me.

Hello /sci/, first of all, english is not my native language, so, if you see any grammar mistake "that no college-level student should ever make" then please just try to ignore it.

Also, there'll be a tl;dr at the end, since I will be writing every single detail in the main post.

I came here for some help. I was at my first semester in college, I was studying transports engineering, and then I started to hate my life in college.

The place where I studied (Instituto Politécnico Nacional, fuck mexican public education, btw) is famous for its engineerings. The problem is, that they rely waaaay too much on giving excess amounts of homework to the students.

Now, homework is something I can survive, however...

-Teachers don't come to give their class regularly (I had a teacher who only came to 3 out of 8-9 classes one month)

-Team projects are excessive, 80% of the time, you are doing the work that will reward another 6 persons.

-I'm starting to think this may not be what I want to do for a living.

So, what do you recommend me, /sci/?

>tl;dr
>I study Transports Engineering
>I'm starting to dislike it

What can you help me with?
>Is Transports Engineering worth it?
>What would you recommend me to study?

I'd like it to be a science or an engineering thing. Something internationally useful and with a decent pay would be nice.

Or just tell me about your career, and why you love it.

Sup /sci/

Not sure where to ask so ill ask here. Ive been smoking for about 6 years now and about 5 days ago i tried switching to e cigs. Not the shitty expensive disposable ones mind you but a long term one because i my wallet cant keep up with buying a pack every fucking day right now.

Ive been wondering how ever about the supposed health risks of vaping. Dont get me wrong, even if they turn out to be as bad as regular cigs, i need muh nicotine. Every time I try looking up this shit i get these really biased views where its obvious as hell that the review is for or against them. Im aware not alot of study has been done on the subject but anything will do.

pic unrelated

I'm a freshman in university and am struggling with trigonometry and astronomy of all things.

I'm going to look into the free tutoring services that my university offers and I'm also going to study harder, but I'm scared.

Surely I'm not the only one who got off to a rocky start?

In a ring, the identity element for addition is usually denoted 0. If the multiplication has an identity, it's usually denoted 1 and is called the unity element. The ring is then called a "ring with unity". It's just a convention some people use.

Batter up:

>Cosmos host "attacks" young earth creationism

http://www.christianpost.com/news/cosmos-host-attacks-young-earth-creationism-in-episode-117258/

>Regarding the latest episode, Answers in Genesis, a creationist organization that argues for a young earth model, took exception to Tyson's arguments.

>In a rebuttal, Dr. Elizabeth Mitchell of Answers in Genesis wrote Tuesday that Young Earth Creationists "offer biblically consistent models to explain how we see faraway objects in space without attempting to tamper with the laws of physics."

>"One such model is the anisotropic synchrony convention which is based on the fact – as Einstein recognized – that it is impossible to objectively measure the one-way speed of light," wrote Mitchell.

>"We instead must measure the round-trip speed of light and simply agree that the one-way speed must be half of the total."

Agree that the one-way speed must be half the total? Is this bitch serious?

because the second some asshole from another board gets one of these thoughts they come here to try and talk about it

always notice that the people who don't post here on a typical basis always try to punctuate and spell with much greater accuracy. A lot of the time, they will even admit to not being very intelligent because they're intimidated. They want to save their ego in the likelihood that /sci/ will tell them they're retarded.

also; /sci/ gets raided a lot. Not sure why.
