Assuming the entire cosmos was empty, how long would it take two golf balls placed at the opposite ends of the observable universe to gravitate towards each other and eventually join?

If gravity is only a space deformation and not a force, why when I drop a stationary object it falls? It should keep stationary since there is no force acting on it.
