1) why would they?
2) no one is taking about "science reporting", the subject here is reporting in the mass media
3) they're scientists, not media analysts, why would they know anything about any type of reporting? The livelihood of movie producers, for example, depends on reporting, but scientists livelihood doesn't. Scientists have zero reason and very, very little opportunity, if any, to know anything first-hand about reporting.
