Exactly. The whole spacex team is presumably sad they just lost a museum piece, but they have enough data to now iterate more hardware and software. The computer will get better with a few all-nighters from the team, and the landing legs will approach their final form. I hope Musk does what he did at the beginning and splits people into 2 or 3 teams and makes them compete for a design.

Also how do we feel about orbit by 2021?

Checked and yeah. The current legs are designed to do the bare minimum: i.e. hold the weight and be able to crumple if the landing is too hard. Elon has said they haven't gotten around to finalizing the design yet. I suppose (or rather, I hope) that the final design will be more akin to the Lunar SS design
