I don't get it.

Depression makes zero sense. Even if there's nothing exciting going on in your life, you can enjoy life. Just being alive is fun. Even if you're ashamed of your past actions, just get over it because no one else cares.

Anxiety also makes zero sense. Just chill out and don't worry about everything, because nothing really matters except your inability to enjoy life, which you inflict on yourself.

Depression and anxiety seem to be the roof of other mental issues. So it all starts there. Just get over it and enjoy life!

/sci/, I am approaching my wit's end here. I'm a math/CS double major, and I just don't get the appeal of a lot of the CS side of things. Mathematics has really clicked with me, and I actually enjoy the concepts taught in my classes. I also am enjoying mastery of the different programming languages, and applying them through practical use. But how can anyone be so passionate about network layers, error handling protocol, and assembly? It's not abstract like mathematics, yet it seems so arbitrary in design. How can someone sit and write books about NRZI modulation and bit stuffing? Why does anyone care about decrypting/encrypting Affine ciphers by hand when they haven't even been used since WWII, and nowadays can be instantly processed by the simplest software? It really is exceedingly boring and useless. I feel like I'm wasting my time and energy in these classes.
